as far as im aware i've flown on every type of aircraft available on a long haul flight

A380
A340-600
A340-300
A330
B747
B777
B767

I enjoyed the A380, however as old as they're getting, i dont think anything can beat the 747. I just love everything about it.

Whats your favourite plane?

A little noisy, compared to a 747???

However I agree, the 346 in Upper is such a comfortable ride even if it is not the nose of a 747 (which runs it close). I also love the more modern cabin and the little bits (like the chromed window blind 'holders') over the aging 747 fixtures. The 346 was well fitted unlike the awful UCDS and the cheap A333 interiors ...

*blatent name dropping*
I think my favourite was Concorde.

For for short haul you can't beat the A320 family and for long haul I love the Virgin A330, perhaps swayed because my only experience on a 747 was on old BA metal.

Sorry just had a flashback to a Dan Air 727.

Otherwise I've been on every modern airliner apart from 777 & A380, and I'll cross off the 777 in a few weeks time.

(Yes, I really have flown supersonic on Concorde)

747 as long as it's in the A-zone!

UD on a 380 is pretty good too, although only done it with SQ.

On the other end of the scale, there is the awful Beech 1900D, hard to believe something that small could be in commercial use (if indeed it still is). Followed perhaps by the cramped CRJ...

There is nothing like a 747 when they spool up the engines.

What about the 757?

My favourite is the 747, whether on the Upper Deck or not. Just love the size of it...always impressive!

I looked at the list again, and previously automatically assumed VS's fleet options. Of the list, here's my new ranking:

A380 - esp. in F or J on the upper deck
A340-600 - so quiet and smooth
A340-300 - similar if smaller
B747 - only in the nose or upstairs
A330 - is OK
B767 - is OK like an A330
B777 - noisy, monstrous beast

Been on them all, and the MD11 (once!).

757s were pretty rare on long haul, and they were pretty poor. Single aisle you tend to get stuck behind a trolly for ages.

Completely agree, couldn't think of a more claustrophobic way of crossing the atlantic! Just thought you'd missed an aircraft out. Fortunately only the US carriers seem to still use them long-haul.

Can generally agree with Slinky09 on the general choice ( would have "cut and pasted but not technically qualified!) but take him to task on the B777! v(
My experience on these has been pretty positive, although usually well forward of the engines.
I would add the A300 and DCs 6 & 10 to my long haul list and can even remember flying in a DC 3 (BEA) and one of their DH Rapide by planes in my youth!
Yes I do have grey hair! 8D

EOS used 757s on their STN-JFK route, they were not too claustrophobic with only 47 seats (and usually far from full!) :)

Nope! Aer Lingus are using them for some of their transatlantic flights since introducing two extra routes this year. I think they leased two aircraft for the east coast flights to use the A330 for SFO and to introduce a service to YYZ.

I had the chance to fly on Lockheed Tristar L-1011, a beautiful plane inside and outside ... But my favorite long-haul still is the 747 ... I haven't had the chance to fly the A380 yet and I will fly the Dreamliner in September ...
