G-VFAB is Birthday Girl and doesn't the 'NEW' have to relate to the name....?

I would like to see her called "Elizabeth" after the Virgin Queen.

Or maybe keep that for G-VLIZ?

My wish is that, when Lady Luck (G-VWIN) is retired, one of the new aircraft will have the registration G-VGIN and is called Honey Lamb :o)

Would G-VGIN plane not have a tendency to be late and go meandering a instead of taking the most direct route?

VS have already used G-VGIN though for one of their old 742's. I don't think they re-use registrations do they?

I object to the fact that the old G-VGIN was named Scarlet Lady! v(

Not at all. It would be as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as I am! :P

Don't think there will be a G-VLIZ as India Zulu already exists in G-VFIZ Bubbles.

I see my post was overlooked. I have heard they will be utilizing some space-age names, to coincide with Virgin Galactic. My post was not in jest.

I can see that - but surely the launch of Galactic will get enough media coverage without having to name planes after it too..?

I do worry about these new twin engines, I see it as the beginning for the removal of the 747's from the fleet.

On the name I think it will have a link to Delta to be honest.

The 787-9s are replacing the four engines A343 & A346 no jumbos will be replaced by the first order of Dreamliners.

The jumbos will be replaced by twins eventually, that's the way the industry is going but that won't be until 2018 at the earliest and will be a bigger model such as 787-10, A350-10 or 777X.

First 787 will be G-VNEW as has been posted earlier.

Didn't realize "New" couldn't be used in a space-themed name...

As far as we know the first Dreamliner's scheduled to enter revenue service in October on the Boston route.

What aircraft does Virgin Atlantic have on order?

We currently operate Boeing 747, Airbus A340 and A330 aircraft. We have also ordered six Airbus A380 aircraft, due to be delivered from 2018. These double-decker aircraft are the world's largest, and will enable us to introduce revolutionary on-board product and service innovations.

Sixteen Boeing 787-9 will also form part of our growing fleet from September 2014.

As your quote says there are 787-900s on order with the possibility of adding some 787-1000s

The A380 order keeps being delayed by VS and some on here myself included can see these turning in to A350 orders.

That's what I can't make add up in my head. The A350-10 is pretty much equivalent to the 787-10. I linked an article earlier where Virgin announced they were considering buying the 787-10, why would they announce that when it's commercially sensitive?

I think there's something going on behind the scenes, VS have the deposit to move from the A380 and like you I think they'll go for the A350 over the 787-10, the posturing is because they'll be trying to screw the price down with Airbus.

The aircraft manufacturer's have a list of orders which are available for everyone to view so if they were trying to hide it anyone could view that and I believe all airlines probably check but I think the main thing for airlines now is the economic aspect with fuel and with virgin the environmental aspect with the fuel options too, along with all the other specs of the aircrafts so I don't think it's a commercially sensitive issue as it's available for all and all airlines will have their own reasons for ordering specific aircrafts in line with their short and long term business plans for delivery and sustainability.

I think I might have confused the point you were trying to make however that's my view on the commercial sensitivity
