After two absolutely brilliant weeks it was unfortunately time to come home. We'd had a really superb time and just didn't want to leave. Anyway all good things must come to and end...

Used Downtown Disney for check in for the first time. Wow! Was so easy and so much better to not have to keep the bags in the car all day. Check in agent was super friendly even shaking our hands at the end. The best bit was that we were told about the hour delay nice and early so it gave us an extra hour at universal.

Got to MCO at around 6 to drop the car off and get through TSA who were particularly obnoxious today. Any way through security in 20 mins or so and off to the gate.

Ladybird was our ride home. I have to say, I know the refurbs were a while ago but what a difference, really superb. Again as with the outbound we were upstairs which will 100% be my first choice next time if the opportunity arises.

Flight time if 7 hours 30 mins and we were almost exactly and hour late leaving. 358 on board tonight. Upstairs was v quiet as people had been moved to help with balancing. Ice for us as meant we had a free seat next to us and in front.
The crew really stood out for both me and Mrs S on the leg. My wife is diabetic and one of the crew noticed her injecting insulin, something she does countless times a day, so much so that I've become immune and don't even notice any more. What I thought was brilliant was the tape crew member made the effort to come over and offer his assistance, I.e diabetic meal etc he also mentioned the carry glucogel on board which would help if her sugar levels become very low. None of this was needed as thankfully Mrs S is v well controlled and has enjoyed many a flight without problems but to me the effort to come over and ensure that all was ok made the Virgin difference. y) y)

Meal was the only let down really. Very dry chicken and rice thing. Best no it was the pud.

All too soon it was time to land into a dull and damp gatwick and really that's it! A really superb holiday topped off by a superb flight.

Good to hear of another solid performance by VS ,I always find the food not so good on the return legs for some reason .top marks to the crew member ,little things like that stick in the mind and can turn an average flight into a good one

Are the return meals carried out from the UK? I've always thought they tasted a bit different so assumed it was an American caterer.

Edit: sorry forgot to thank the OP for an interesting trip report
