Thanks for all the info I've already gained from reading this site. I'm hoping for a bit more help though please.

Travelling LGW to MCO last two weeks of November. 2 adults. I can be flexible by a day or two and even could go MAN and MIA though prefer not to.

Should I buy M seat and hope upgrades become available or get full reward seat and then I can still add more miles on should upgrades become available? Looking for the best chance of a G really but happy with sitting in PE. I know how to check flight stats and ita but still confused as to the best option.

Thanks for any help you could give me.

The way you decide to buy your ticket now will make no difference if any G's become available, so you should do what works best for you now.

I personally would buy an M and upgrade to PE with miles if available, but that is because I still like to earn miles and TP's when flying, something I won't do if I do a full reward. Also, I think this is a better use of miles personally. I would also be happy in the knowledge I am flying in PE which is fine for the a flight to Florida IMO.

In your situation, the benefit of a full miles PE reward now is that they are much easier (and cheaper) to change than an M is, so if you book for one day/route now and a suitable alternative opens up, you can switch quicker. The downside to this way, is that it seems you will have to buy more miles.

Thanks for the quick reply. There are two G's from MAN outbound a day later than I really want but I am holding off because no clubhouse. Husband isn't helping.....the more options I give him the less interested he is! MAN is same distance as London for us so no bother there.
I just worry the longer I leave it we may end up with no flights!

I think your issue may be getting return G's - more people want UC on the return so they are harder to come by.

It is obviously a chance you take by leaving it longer to book, like you say one potential issue is you end up having to fly dates/class you aren't happy with (and potentially higher prices) but the other side is tomorrow some G's could open up.

Unfortunately only you can ultimately decide what is best for you.

A little word of advice regarding the hubby, just ignore him and take care of the bookings yourself, you will do for the best ! ;)
For the main matter, I would say, go for M and try to get the Gs on the way out ... It will be definitely more difficult to get them on the way back but as you said, one can dream ! I'm in the same situation with LAX. Got the Gs for the way out and I'm booked on S for the way back but absolutely no availability for the whole month of Feb at the moment ...

Teehee, the Mr is pretty laid back about it all and is happy for me to arrange things and then delegate tasks :)

My quandary now is do I take MAN to MCO in G and miss out on clubhouse or take LGW to MIA in G and have extra journey time the other end. Or wait and see if LGW to MCO become available in G. Or fly in G to JFK. Or somewhere else.

Oh, blimey, I can see why he's not fussed chatting to me about it :)

Mia Flight would be from LHR not LGW, worth remembering that particularly if you are considering different routes in each direction? Don't want to find yourself at lgw when your car is at LHR or vice versa

Thanks. It's all a bit overwhelming really. We'll be hiring a car for each bit (the Mr's job) so it won't be too much bother. I'm also concerned about connecting flights if immigration at MIA is as bad as I hear.
