air miles to India

I am looking at going to Mumbai as soon after Xmas as I can with air miles until mid Jan.

What's the best thing to do and any tips? Not had air miles before. I got 41500 so need another 1000 before I can go economy. Read economy on airmiles isn't worth it?

The best use of miles is with economy to upper upgrades. Most ppl on here will agree to that.
A return to mumbai in UC will use 50000 miles, you pay for a M class fare and use the miles to upgrade. There needs to be G availability on the days you need to fly though!

You're correct, a lot of people on here would say that using miles for an economy flight isn't the best use of miles.

However, if you are unlikely to want to use miles for anything else in the near future, have little chance of earning miles again, and are looking to get your flight to Mumbai as cheap as possible, then it might make sense for you.

I wanted to fly just after xmas but the earliest I can on a reqard flight is 30th Dec. Does the date ever change? Anything I can do to overcome this and fly nearer 25th?

Just keep checking on a daily basis - reward seats come and go all the time, so there is every chance something could come up closer to the dates you require.
