So after deciding to squeeze in a short break to Florida and with work commitments just before, I decided to fly from Manchester. This would mean no CH but would mean a straight-forward journey to the airport on the morning of departure ;)

So using the train from West Yorkshire to the airport took just over an hour. I soon arrived at T2. In fact, I arrived earlier than I planned so approached a very empty T2 but was welcomed warmly at the UC desk by a team member who normally checks me in for my LR flights.....so we exchanged some friendly banter and I was on my way quickly.

Security was quiet but the staff were surly and unhelpful. The fast-lane was not in operation but not an issue as it was so quiet but I do wish the staff were a little more friendly. I tweeted my experience and received a very prompt and welcome response from the Head of T2 y)

After picking up some currency and a quick look around the shopping centre......I made my way upstairs and turned left at the top of the stairs and entered the Escape Too lounge which did have some signage about VS and DL guests only.....I had not been in here before but was welcomed warmly and by name.....it did use to be the Air France lounge and though I was assured it is for VS and DL guests mainly with some selected other guests....it did seem to be an overflow from the main Escape lounge later in the morning..... :w

The selection is rather poor as we know - full bar, sandwiches, snacks, some salad items with a soup also available. The staff were friendly and really nice.

So at 1245 I left and wandered down to gate 212. I only had to wait a few more moments and took this shot before boarding..

Welcomed by name at the gate and headed down the air-bridge. I knew the flight was going to be light (59 in the end!)....so straight on and turned left.

I was welcomed by the FSM and CSS who introduced themselves and a champagne was quickly accepted ;) ....refills were proactively offered and accepted!

Menus, amenity kits and headsets were then distributed whilst my three other UC travellers made themselves at home. So the total load was 4 UC, 7 PE and 48 Economy.

A flight time of 8hrs15mins was confirmed with 18 crew. We left the gate at 1342 and were airborne quickly at 1358 from 23L.

Once airborne hot towels were offered, drink and food orders taken. Drinks were quickly dispatched with crisps..

Tables were set for a late lunch at 1430 which seemed really quick but the food was delicious. I enjoyed the soup (pea and mint), the Chicken Katsu, Sticky toffee pudding and Cheese. A really good menu.

Wine, water and bread were offered several times... :P

The rest of the flight was uneventful and I talked to the crew for a bit at the bar about rumours and news (and v-flyer...)walked around the aircraft a couple of times, enjoyed the ice-cream service and settled down for afternoon tea around 1.5hrs from Orlando. I watched a little TV and then we were secured for landing.

Hot towels and lovehearts were offered before landing and we touched down at 1715 just behind the Lufthansa. I managed to be first off and using the self-serve machines, was through in 10mins...a personal record for me.

The bag was waiting and I was off into the Florida heat for a few days. A really good flight, a friendly and upbeat crew with a proactive FSM. oo)

Love the pics! That Chicken Katsu (unfortunate name) looks delicious……actually it all does.

What a light flight, 4 in UC. I bet it felt like a private jet.

Thanks for posting.

Great TR and photos - the chicken looks really nice! I have never been on a flight that empty - what a treat!! (probably not as good for VS though :-) )

Thanks everyone, I was actually the only one in UC until a couple of days before and then some Gs were released.....so it seems they were snapped up by my fellow UC travellers.

The aircraft though was only catered for the number on board. So in UC, we had one portion of soup for three people....not sure why it was stretched for three when only one portion. But it all worked out in the end.

It was a good job the flight wasn't full as two toilet in the downstairs PE/UC section were out of use. It was funny though seeing the PE section downstairs completely empty.

I do know the flight back on the Friday evening was solid in all cabins....so just picked a quiet day to fly outbound it would seem.... :P

Excellent report Jon, thank you. I am amazed at the load, or rather, lack of load!

I've noticed for some days this week the flights to MCO from MAN and LGW have dropped to one flight a day, rather than two. Just a quiet spell before the busy summer holiday period....

I think the crew enjoyed the rather quiet flight for a change :P
