Bag drop at LHR

Strange question I know but if we've done OLCI does the wife have to be with me when I do the Bag Drop at T3 ? Or can I leave her outside puffing away while I do the necessary?

I'm pretty sure that for security reasons everyone has to be present at Bag Drop so that each bag can be accounted for/assigned to a passenger.

Yes, all passengers must present themselves and their passports to the desk when dropping bags off.

That's assuming you are checking bags for your wife. If your limit allows, you could check all the bags in your name then only you would need to be present. If you do want or need to check a bag in her name, then she will have to come too.
