Baggage problems at LHR

Warning for anyone catching a Little Red flight:

VS have posted on Facebook to warn of "severe baggage belt problems" affecting all airlines at LHR T1 - including Little Red.

They're advising departing passengers not to check in bags and suggest it's affecting inbound flights as well.

Travelled down to LHR yesterday and no problems at all - another great Little Red flight with a very healthy load.

However, overnight have received an email and a text advising me of some issues at LHR. Flying back to Manchester today might be interesting....

Thanks for that - I'm setting off to EDI shortly, to fly down to LHR, and have a suitcase packed... Hmmm... Take the risk or travel (hand-baggage) light?
Sigh.

Yes affects T2 as well. The main T1 baggage system and back up system have failed. All being moved by hand until its working again!

Tweets from heathrow suggest all is functioning again. VS Facebook also saying fixed.
So hopefully all good for today's flights.

I flew from Heathrow to Aberdeen yesterday on VS3023 and only half the bags came with us. Needless to say my own and my friend's didn't arrive. Spent all morning unsuccessfully trying to talk to someone so glad to see that this may be the problem. The baggsage checking site says still looking! As it was a domestic flight I put everything in suitcase to have simplest time at security but lesson learned as I have no make-up, phone charger and have some jewellery in the case.

Update - arrived at T1 from EDI 15 mins ago, and bags appeared on carousel promptly. Already on tube, so all good for T1 arrivals..!

Bag delivered safely to friend's house last night - phew
