Hi there everyone,

Many thanks for all the help I have gained from your expertise over the last couple of years.

I was awarded two lots of return little red flights...will I earn tier points or not as they were free (ish)!

Also, I'm on a gold status mission, I have to earn 18 by November, any thoughts on the easiest way to do this greatly appreciated...I have one upper long haul to take (probably to US somewhere) and the in order to get the other points, I am trying to put a case together/make excuses/create reasons to fly to he that holds the purse strings!!...

Many Thanks.

I assume those are the complimentary LR flights from the Upper Class promotion they ran last autumn? If so no, you won't earn any miles or TPs.

If you do an UC return to the USA, paid with cash, that'll earn you 10 TPs. Once you're there, consider some short Delta hops in First Class - they'll earn you 3 TPs each and can be pretty cheap - I did LAX to OAK for $156 one way. So a return plus another Little Red return would get you the 18 TPs you need.

I have just been on to AU phone to book a Little Red return from MAN to LHR claiming one of these.
Not sure how it works, nor did the rep!, however she went away and booked my flight to LHR. However couldn't do the return on the flight I wanted as these tickets have to be in a particular bucket. There was availability on the day but not the time I wanted so had to pay for my return, earning 1 tp.
If you know the dates you want suggest you call ASAP for best chance of bagging the seats, my flight is only two weeks ahead so I might have been too late!

Gumshoe, yes you are quite right it is those little red flights, thanks for the bad news, thats a shame but your info about the delta US flights has softened the blow, brilliant, thanks so much, will start looking at those immediately. Great stuff. I was going to book the Gatwick Orlando flight that was on for 1.5K, that was a super deal, fingers crossed something similar will pop up on the low fares soon...or a birthday sale perhaps.....

Hazban, thats very good to know, will try and book them well in advance.

I did just do a return today and just as you experienced on booking the rep didn't have a clue about the flights and put me on hold for 20minutes to sort it. We didn't have any probs with availability though, maybe we just got lucky.

To book those free LR flights there has to be reward seat availability. You can easily check whether your chosen flight has any by doing a dummy miles booking online.

I've booked two now and on both occasions the agents knew nothing about them but came good after checking with their supervisor. Unlike most "free" flights they genuinely are free, with no taxes or fees.

Just booked my two free Little Red flights under this promotion. The phone agent I spoke to on the FC Gold line was fully clued up about the promotional terms, so very easy to book. As others have said, nothing to pay (not even taxes), and it booked into a T-class fare (so as expected no miles will be earned).
