I'm looking for idea's / itineraries help...

My husband has decided that he wants to visit Niagara Falls next year.
I was thinking of maybe a two-city trip including Toronto (going to Niagara from here) then flying to New York city (we were there in 2013 and would like to go back)Not sure if this is the best idea or if there are better ones??

Holiday will be for 2 weeks, looking for idea's, things to do or other places to visit - not sure how much in Toronto there is to see (compared to NY - where we had a long list last time :) )

Also any hotel recommendations for Toronto more than welcome, looking at the Marriott Falls view at Niagara....

Any suggestions more than welcome. :D :D

I visited Toronto for a week a couple of years ago and had a great time, there's plenty to see and do depending what you like.

We did a day trip to Niagara Falls which included lunch at the Sheraton with a view of the falls, the Maid of the Mist boat ride, and a trip through wine country to visit a vineyard (excellent icewine in that region). There was an optional helicopter ride over the falls, which we did. A bit pricey but worth it for a view you wouldn't otherwise get.

In Toronto there are different neighbourhoods to explore with a different vibe. The Downtown area has good shopping and there is a small Chinatown area too. Lots of nice restaurants all round. The St Lawrence Market (indoor) is a good place to spend a couple of hours. It's full of food and produce, dotted with cafes, and has other vendors selling jewellery etc, some handmade.

The Royal Ontario Museum is a good place to spend a few hours, with permanent exhibits and some visiting exhibits. There is, of course, the CN Tower (great views), and Casa Loma which is a period style country house with lovely gardens. There is also a zoo about an hour out of town accessible via the transport networks. Toronto has a city pass (http://www.citypass.com) and all those attractions are included on it.

As it's on the shores of Lake Ontario there are even beaches which start getting used from around May-September. There's even a nudist beach if you like that kind of thing!

I think you'll easily find things to do for a few days before moving on. We stayed at the Novotel, which was great, but there are more upmarket places to stay.

Enjoy planning!

My thanks as well Bretty, never thought of Toronto but have looked into reward availability with Ba as we have some upgrades to club sitting waiting to be used and there is plenty of availability for this location. There are so many English names there, must have been people from where we live named a lot of the places, and where we have worked. Cambridge, Binbrook, Lincoln to name but a few.

Even looking into driving onto Chicago only a days drive. many thanks again. linda :)
