I'm flying UC on VS3 in a couple of weeks. It departs at 09:05.

I won't be doing DTCI so will need to go to the bag drop.

What time would you aim to arrive at the airport?

Obviously want to make the most of the lounge but not sure what time it opens?

It depends on how long your journey is and whether you want to build in contingency for delays.
Personally I go the night before and stay in an airport hotel even though I'm only 40 miles from both Gatwick and Heathrow and both include a stretch on the M25.
I'm usually in the terminal 3 hours before take off.
I'd rather wait in the lounge than at home fretting about making it on time.

My overnight thing came about a few years ago when I had three separate delays on the journey. It was winter and heavy snow was a major cause which hopefully won't affect LHR in two weeks.

I have asked this of VS in the last few days (LGW clubhouse opening times I mean).

We are flying on the 0900 to ANU.

We are coming up the night before.

There is NO info on the VS website as to opening hours. Livechat told me it is 7am, Twitter said 6.45am and Facebook told me 6.30.

I shall be there at 6.30, ready and waiting.

LGW CH opening times have been a recurring question over the years. The last time we went two years back we arrived from the Hilton at 6.30 to find a fair few folk already ensconced so it had clearly been open earlier. I'm planning on 6.30 this time around in 5 weeks...

LHR CH opens at 7am, I think.

I'm with DD on the value of the night before in a hotel, but failing that I'd aim to be at the airport by 6 am. I'd rather be sat outside the lounge feeling a little foolish than aiming for a finer trim and finding yourself stuck in traffic somewhere....

We're at the Hilton the night before, so will get up and trundle across, perhaps a tad earlier than 6.30 now you've said that ): . It's an early flight wherever you are coming from. But from Cornwall it's a trek whatever the time. Overnight plus hotel, preferably with club lounge, just does it for us. Holiday starts with my key locking the front door.

We were on the vs003 last July and did DTCI, arrived for 6.45 checked in and was waiting for the lounge to open for 7am, boarded at last call about 8.45am.

Had time for breakfast and spa treatment.

If you aren't doing DTCI, bag drop opens at 6.30am

We stay locally in a hotel, travelling from Yorkshire the day before

Another vote for staying the night before!
I was on the VS3 in September last year and got to the CH for 7 we stayed at the sofitel at T5. Get to check in at 6:40, that'll give you plenty of time...

+100000000 to that. After years of silly-o'clock drives to LGW combined with bargain bucket parking with a 20 minute wait and bus ride to the terminal, my first hilton/valet park experience was an epiphany, and I'll never do anything else again for morning flights. My kids see it as an extension of the holiday, and there is the obligatory visit to Giraffe for dinner. Plus it gives you twilight check in and more time in the CH (when flying VS at least...)
