VS45 seat selection

Me and my girlfriend will be flying on VS45 on 29th August. Seat selection has opened this morning and I quickly logged on this morning before leaving the house managed to request seats in the bubble (row 79 seats A+B.)

There is still plenty of seats available in the bubble (77-80 are still empty rows down the H-K side) so was just after some feedback regarding my choice. Are there better seats available or would these be peoples preferred choices? Main reason for requesting these seats is we would be able to recline the seats without having to worry about anyone behind us however seatguru says they may have limited recline compared to the rest of the cabin.

Any feedback or advice is really appreciated

They're great seats. The bubble feels much more relaxed than downstairs and you'll be among the first off the plane which is always useful when it comes to US immigration.

Seatguru is wrong by the way - all seats on all VS long haul aircraft fully recline.

Some V-Flyers swear by the window seats in row 61 at the back downstairs as they're in 2s rather than 3s which is obviously good for couples, and have more room. But because they're at the back you'll be last off and may not get your first choice of meal.

That's great thanks for the reassurance hopefully make up for the fact that V45/10 seem to be running constantly late on take off.

From reading on here it seems like I should check the booking every so often just to make sure the request is still in place then make sure I check-in as soon as possible when it opens? Have never flown with Virgin before just wondering are the headphones for inflight entertainment supplied or do you have to purchase them?

Headphones are supplied but I usually take my own or use my iPod headphones.

Good choice seats upstairs are far better than being at the back when flying in to JFK and a very long line being possible at immigration.

Yeah will be taking my own but sure the Mrs will get her own way if she wants them. Glad I did some research before selecting seats girlfriend isn't the happiest flyer so think a smaller more relaxed cabin might help her

Yes, do check periodically that your seat requests are still there. Because that's all they are - requests - and they are occasionally changed for "operational reasons" (normally because a large group needs seating together).

Doing OLCI as soon as it opens at T-24 is also a good idea as those last 24 hours are when changes are most likely to be made, but if you've already issued your boarding pass with your seats confirmed you're far less likely to be moved.

No. You won't receive your boarding pass until you check in either online any time from T-24 or at the airport.
