There seems to be less frill on the blouse and the neck is a tad lower. No doubt those wearing them up till now were giving feed-back which has been taken into account and adjustments made.

Replacing them every 6 months is a tad unrealistic. Remember cabin crew don't work on a five day week basis so are not wearing them day in and day out. Granted that when flying long-haul, especially to places like HKG and NRT, they will be wearing them continually for longer than an 8 hour day, bearing in mind that they will be worn from the minute they leave home and until they arrive at their destination hotel (and vice versa), but in between flights the clothes will have the chance to "rest" which should help keep them looking fresh.

In my experience even part time staff who only work one day a week for 4 hours end up with uniform that needs replacing after 6 months.
Maybe not the suit but always the shirts/blouses.
Some people unfortunately don't know how to wash clothes, whites, light and darks! No mixing! Mixing colours when washing doesn't help the look of a uniform if they mix them they will end up with dingy clothes in less than 6 months! But I digress...
I work in retail and we all have a twice a year allowance to buy fresh new season outfits, trust me at the end of 6 months everyone needs new clothes! :D

Yes, but how many people who need uniforms does your company employ? I haven't a clue about the number of VS employees who wear uniform out of the 9000+ they employ world-wide, but if you think of not only cabin crew, but also check-in staff, Clubhouse managers, gate agents and a plethora of other personnel, it adds up to a considerable amount. I would imagine that the ethos promoted among uniform wearing staff would be careful maintenance of uniform.

In addition, when my employer (which was the largest employer in the province of Munster which consists of six counties in the south of Ireland. It employed more than the largest national companies in the state) decided that staff should wear uniform (a decision which was short-lived) the cost was deducted from our salaries. You can be damn sure we were going to look after them in that scenario. I don't know if VS does that but it is an incentive to look after clothes.

Total staff is close to 55000, the majority will get some sort of allowance to buy uniform, especially those on the "front line"
I pay 25% towards my uniform the rest is covered by my employers (technically I don't pay as I use gift cards that I receive each month for certain things), I look after my uniform but after 6 months I'm ready to bin it and get new. If after 6 months I think some items are ok I give them to the Red Cross...with the labels cut out.
I don't know how VS dish out the uniform either but sometimes all the garment care in the world will lead to tatty clothes.

I've told many a staff member that a certain shirt was no longer allowed to be worn as it was dingy and a new one had to be bought before the next shift or they would be sent home.

Maybe I'm looking at this from a retailers point of view, we wear what we sell so it always needs to look spot on. The unfortunate thing for me is I really pick up on the state of people's clothes, not what they're wearing but the condition of it. I'm very luck to be in a position that I get a very generous allowance to buy brand new every season.

I like the new VS uniforms let's see how they look on real CC and how they age! y)

Slitghly off topic, but I hope that VS have worked with HMRC to give the tax break, for wearing/cleaning a uniform, worked into their tax codes.

There are companies out there that will claim the tax back, but take their cut! And it really isn't much over the year.

Do Virgin Australia were the same uniforms as Virgin Atlantic? ?| Virgin America don't.

I've been told that the CC don't pay towards their uniform and it gets replaced as an when they need it.
The CC I spoke to was very happy with the new uniform as it showed off his bum...and very nice it was 2! ;)
