I keep reading that people collect their pre ordered currency from the airport, any one give me any pointers on this? do you get a better deal if you use amex? or flying miles or is it just the rate and convienience?

I always pre-order online using Travelex and then collect at one on their airport locations. You get a better rate doing that compared to the walk-up rate.

We used Moneycorp at LGW for our trip last month, earliest you can order is 21 days prior to your collection date. When we ordered we got a good rate, when we collected they gave us an even better rate saving us a few £'s along the way.

How do their rates compare to say M&S who seem to give a very good rate to their card holders?
Big disadvantage of buying just before you go is that you have to take whatever rate is going. I like to monitor well in advance. The dollar rate is pretty good at the moment so I'm thinking of getting my spending money for next year now. Or maybe it will go up a couple of points yet.

Morning all,

I generally monitor the rates of the country or countries I am travelling to from the moment I decide to go.

Working in central London I always collect my currency from Change-link in Victoria they generally have great rates.

As of 0900 17/07/14
Change-Link USD 1.70-1
CAD 1.808-1
Euro 1.255-1

Moneycorp USD 1.675-1
CAD 1.792-1
Euro 1.238-1

Obviously this works well for me being in Central London most days.

Cheers.
