If I book a reward flight to MCO in UC, return in PE, if seats in UC on the way back become available can I upgrade to those?

Is UC to MCO still just 14 seats at the front?

Will they be the new UCDS seats and if so, what's wrong with them?

Your thoughts will be appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

Return upper seats from MCO are pretty scarce and are rarely available to upgrade closer to departure. That's not saying they don't exist but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Unsold upper seats don't always necessarily become reward seats at the airport.

Still 14 seats in Upper on 747's and they are still the original upper suites albeit refurburbed with the new IFE system in them.

Enjoy your flight

Thanks for the quick response David. So it can be done but it's highly unlikely which is what I was expecting.

One final question ... If I've read the T&Cs correctly, if you cancel a reward flight more than 24 hours in advance, you pay cancellation fees of £30 for the outbound, $50 for the inbound but you get the miles back?

I'm absolutely amazed by this. I've just booked 5 yes FIVE reward seats to MCO next June, UC outbound, PE return.

Spoke online to an agent who confirmed miles will be re-credited if anyone drops out and we cancel that ticket more than 24 hours in advance.

Great news - UC outbound is much more available for the return, but still good going and it shows that if you are early and prepared from when the seats go on sale reward seats can be found.

Have you booked full rewards and not a reward upgraded from a cash economy fare? If so, then it is correct that miles will be returned if cancelled.

Yes they are full reward seats.

I've just tried a dummy booking for the same i.e. 5 seats UC outbound and PE returns and there are 5 reward seats available in UC outbound on the following days in June ... 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14 and 15! 4 of those days are showing 6 seats available!

Recently booked two ECO seats with miles and upgraded to PE with the Virgin American Express certificate. A little while later two UC seats became available for the outward and return legs. I cancelled the PE, at a cost of £25 pp and purchased 2 flexible ECO return seats that I then upgraded to UC with miles by using what I had paid in miles for the original booking plus 15000 extra! Shows the system can be pretty flexible!

Yes get to the front if you can.
I had terrible upper a few weeks ago.
Wife's seat was broke and stuck in beyond upright position she was nearly doubled over on take off. Crew adjusted it manually with an Allen key once airborne. Her table also didn't work.
No choice of starter for either of us again!,

On return a family of about 6 got on with a baby that screamed for about 7 hours and a 7 year old that was running round the cabin.
And no choice of main meal, I ended getting a premium meal .

I just stayed up all night drinking.
