Hello all,

I am flying to DXB from LHR in September and me and the mrs are booked currently for return PE.

I have an option for a paid upgrade either LHR to DXB or DXB to LHR.

Now the outbound flight is around 7 hours and the return 7h 45mins roughly.

My question is do you guys think it's worth upgrading any of the legs at £500 pp? or is PE more than comfy and a good experience for this journey?

Experiences welcome!

Thanks :)

Only you can decide if it's worth it. Can you easily afford it, or would the money be better spent elsewhere: Dubai's not an overly cheap place after all.

On a purely practical level, if you were to upgrade on only one leg I'd make it the outbound. It's a night flight so you'll appreciate the flat bed, and you can take advantage of the LHR Clubhouse. Coming back, 7-8 hours in PE is perfectly fine on a day flight and the lounge at DXB isn't all that.

I will only fly VS400 in UC, I am happy to fly the outbound VS401 in economy purely because I cannot sleep sitting up. I am not a fan of the PE product.

As much as the UCDS on the 330 isn't as good as the old one for sleeping it's still a flat surface with a nice pillow and duvet. I find on my back with my head in the top right, legs slightly bent and duvet pushed up against the bright buttons the best position to sleep. I'm 6ft 4 too.

To answer the question I'd probably cough up the extra to experience a day in the clubhouse having spa treatments and cocktails then to sleep it off before your arrival in DXB.
