Yep, I had the same with my solid deodorant stick I've carried practically all round the world with me in my carry-on (lol that's sounds bad, but I only carry it on-board end of flight freshen-ups) and that was the first time it's ever been pulled. The person just said 'no liquids, gels or creams', I didn't bother trying to argue that the solid stick was actually none of those and it actually says the word 'solid' on the label!
Just gone through security at SFO T2 for my VX flight to LAS and my ciggy lighter in my carry-on was ignored as usual. I'd moved the deodorant stick to my checked bag for now.
