VS043 G Fares.....Do They Exist??

I was just wondering if anyone has EVER been able to bag a G on VS043.

Having just had a nice little chat on-line I was assured that there are always mileage seats available on every flight & in every cabin. I am sceptical as when booking for this year we just said we wanted to go any time between 1st August & 1st November for any duration between 10-20 days. I would consider that to be fairly flexible but could only get PE outbound & UC back providing we fly from LAX.

Are VS043 G's mythical??

They're certainly not mythical - there's one G currently available on the VS43 on four dates next month and on four dates in September.

And if you're after two Gs, there are two available on the 19th & 26th August and the 21st October.

Your problem, I suspect, is availability on the return VS44 which is much scarcer - there seems to be just one G available on one flight between Sep & Dec, on September 6th.

Try searching for availability on each leg separately. If you search for a return, if there's no availability on one leg it'll just show no availability full stop, even if Gs are available on the other leg.

If you find a G on an outbound date that suits you, you've a number of options: a combi fare where you pay cash for the inbound leg; PE on the inbound; find a G on an inbound flight on another route eg LAX or - and obviously this is risky as there may be no availability - try and buy an upgrade with miles at the airport on the day of the return flight.

Further to what has already been said - for mileage seats, you have left it quite late to book them, especially on such a popular route.

I know it isn't always possible, but you really need to be looking from the first day the flights are released as quite often they will release some fairly close to then, and no more at all.

Sorry, I didn't make my self clear... This has long since been booked, I think we booked it way before last Christmas. Even at the time of booking there were none despite having a very flexible window to choose from hence my belief that they are mythical!! I was just checking something else out & as an add on I asked if there was any availability on our flight with a view to possibly upgrading....not a chance!
I'm still happy with outbound PE as it's a day flight & we have a bonus day in LA for our overnight UC flight home....

Agree with Clarkey here, I cannot see that happening if a flight is almost guaranteed to be full or very near to full, unless you are talking about US staff letting you upgrade at the airport when you check-in for any unsold seats.
However on the VS043, I personally have had outbound and inbound reward seats on that exact route, more than once. I have booked them 3 months out and have I booked them 5 days out ( oh to be young again... )

They do become more available closer to the dates, but then again, your flexibility tends to become less and would have to pay a change fee to change the day I believe, rather than upgrade to an upgradable fare code...

I managed to get two on the VS43 for June 2014 booked at end of February 2014 ... failed on the VS44 though
