Flying from LGW to Havana on 21/8/14.... Booked holiday through Virgin and upgraded to Prem Econ ( yippee 'in The Bubble!).... However unable to her V room access on the day - what are the chances of turning up and getting in on the day?... If not able to get in there what other lounges are good at LGW ?... Travelling with husband and 2 teens... ?|

Not tried the LGW No.1, but have been in the STN one and it was very decent...

Alternatively it may be worth trying the Clubhouse on the day, space permitting, they sometimes allow paid entry. And that would trump anything else that Gatwick has to offer...

I took my 3 young scamps to No.1 Gatwick (North as we were flying BA). They had a soft play for the baby, Playstation with decent selection of games (£10 deposit at reception for the controllers), three iMacs, runway/taxiway views and Peroni and wine on tap for the grown ups. There's was a nail bar that we didn't use.

I'd image the south terminal would have a similar set up, would highly recommend although next time I would pay extra for the a la carte food as the included stuff was fancy but not filling. It certainly beats sitting about the terminal departure lounge. We pre-booked with Holiday Extras you should be able to get 10% off the list price with them.

Edit: just noticed your terminology. The V-Room is only available to Virgin Holidays customers, did you book with VS or VH? The Clubhouse is better than the V-Room.

Normally I would agree, but imho the V-Room is miles better if you have teens.

We flew a couple of weeks ago from LGW and used the CH, my two teens were not nearly as impressed as they had been with the V-Room some months prior. :?

No1 Lounge at Gatwick is very comfortable.
There are nice big leather chesterfields to relax in.
Plenty of snacks and drinks.
It's where I go if I'm in PE.

Scotsgirl, if you should have been given Vroom access but it's fully booked, I would try to blag entry into the CH, but do it via your booking (i.e. don't turn up on the day to do it).

Good luck & let us know how you get on.

And remember if you are a flying club member and want to book the No1 lounge, get your miles and your discount! And if there are 2 adults with FC membership, do 2 bookings to get double the miles ):
