Obligatory "hello" from the VS CH.
First time in many a year I have been able to leave over a weekend. Delayed outbound but just means I will have to drink another few glasses of red to get me "sleep ready" :D
CH is pretty empty, guess that is a Saturday load, good to say the staff are just as attentive as they normally are, no slacking with the lack of PAX.

I'm never sure if the time displayed on your post is local time or actual time where you are - am guessing it's local…..in which case I hope you had a great flight back.

Thanks all.
The time on the post is a little strange. Not sure what timzone that is set. Its not East Coast not UK ?|
The wine worked fine, until 10,000ft. Some poor sole very close to me had to use a CPAP machine which made him sound like a very loud Darth Vadar!!
Wasn't going to moan and make the poor guy feel bad, its was on 5:50min and I luckily do not have to use one!!

Hi,
I think check-in will open 3 or so hours before the normal flight time.
The lounge may be open a lot earlier as they share this with Iceland Air among others.
I am surprised they are still behind with departures and arrivals, just checked and it seems they are back to a 9:40pm Eastern Departure time(???)

It used to be 7.40 and then 7.45. just looked through emails and in past years never been as late at 9.40 before. Inconvenient time to land as well. Its 9.50 next Easter- so creeping later. It has been 3 hours before for check in- just wondering if lounge was open any earlier. We have 7 bags (never travel with teens) but 5 of us so 2 could go through without dropping bags

Yup - Its now a pain, landing that late at LHR.
From a purely selfish point of view the VS11 / VS12 in/out of Boston has totally lost its shine for me.
It was always a nice flight in, landed at a convenient time to be picked up from the airport by someone leaving the office and landed early enough at LHR to get in to the office for the start of the day. It also was good for reward upgrades if needed ;)
Code sharing and the movement of the flights, from what I have been told by VS staff, was to accommodate the removal / move of some other Delta flights to save Delta some cash has not been a happy one for this VS fan :(

Share the sentiment-this 19:30 flight which has been a stalwart for nearly 25 years, has been replaced by a Delta flight. Thus far VS12 is often delayed re depart BOS and it is unreliable at a far too frequent hour or more late on arrival, making LHR connections dicey. For UC pax, there's the CH but those in Y or PE are being fed their in- flight dinner at 11 pm unless they have checked in online and enjoyed a North End meal prior to airport arrival. Note that seat prices have not reflected awkward time change. BA still flies out direct at its usual slots...

Yes they do and on more than one occasion over the past few months I have seen the BA 747 sitting there are just after 7:30, boarding thinking the worst thoughts........ xx(
Sure I am just one of many.

I noticed that the a 2 class A330 has been operating this route some of the days this week.
Can anyone advise what happens to the passengers who have upper class tickets? :)
thanks

Don't think there's any 2 class A330's left. They were all changed to 3 class a few months ago. Maybe just the data base needs updated

Is that an extra TP as well there then???? ): ):

Well the lounge is heaving (2 seats left in casual seating) by 7.30pm (take off 10.00pm according to airport boards). Apparently the lounge opens at 5.45 as does the UC checkin (checkin sign said 5.45- checkin agent said lounge was 5.45). Air Iceland has just been called and 1 person left- so it must be a full flight on Virgin tonight.

We have 5 UC reward seats- so I imagine almost everyone else must be paying customers unless late availability opened up.

No ice-cream any more- it has been discontinued and no peppermint tea.

No peppermint tea? That seems a silly savings... takeoff 10 pm, means another late arrival unless there are tail winds (and given the current weather, doubt it). Wonder how much more it costs VS to feed and water a packed lounge for 3 (or 4) hours versus onboard at half past 7...and half out in snooze zone.

Curious re the rewards seats (and well done--how did you manage that!) Did you happen to notice if they were offering UC upgrades at check in?

I didn't see a sign selling upgrades (and have before). There were 2 or 3 free seats in UC I think (1 was broken).

They ran out of most food. No hot chocolate (ran out yesterday apparently). No apple pie, no chocolate dessert.

There were 55 plus people in (UC about 45? seats on the plane?) so some gold and delta card holders I think but most people in UC were in the lounge which is unusual based on previous flights.

It was the busiest I have ever seen the lounge (been in 4 other times in past 14 months)

About 20 types of local beer and ales (apparently it was change over between 2 menus). Lots of local spirits as well. I was driving at other end.

On the plane- white label Lanson- which was nicer than black (not a Lanson fan)

Lots of red tail pens though!

I booked 4 UC rewards last December. Then booked 1 PE in Feb and checked daily (at least twice) for 7 weeks before an UC came free and I changed it. so 5 altogether

I booked Boston for Easter 2015 on the day they became available. Booked 4 UC rewards- there were 7 available in total I think.

Yeah--and that's the rub--having lots of miles and using them (to say nothing of the accompanying fees) is too often a case of is it worth it. It is nice to fly UC out of Boston but as it's such a short trip (sometimes 5.5 hours!) and the mileage and fees are the same as significantly longer ones, it just seems not a good deal, especially given late departure BOS and potentially late arrival LHR. It would be terrific if VS adjusted miles and fees re their closest US connection (BOS) to an appropriate level.
