Hi all

Just a quick question - does anyone have any experience of the "private transfer" offered by VH from DXB. We have booked with VH direct and this was the standard transfer option. I contacted the hotel to confirm the transfer and they had no knowledge of it so I presume that this is something VH sort out and not the hotel?

Also, is this a good transfer in an air-conditioned car etc or would it be worth sourcing our own transfer instead of the VH transfer?

Many thanks!

I am not a fan of private transfers at DXB. A taxi will be your cheapest and often easiest option. When you come out of arrivals there are clear signs for the official taxi rank. The official taxis in Dubai are cream with coloured roof panels (other than the pink lady taxis (driven by a female), they are all the same just different operating companies) prices are by the meter, with a 25dhs starting charge from the airport. If you require a bigger car they also have mini vans waiting too, just ask the official taxi co-ordinator. All cars are airconditioned. Oh and with all taxis in Dubai - no meter, no pay.

as above, i'd just get a dubai taxi, they're clean, safe and low cost

a transfer may mean you have to wait around or take the walk to where the driver is parked, neither would be pleasant in the hotter months, with a taxi you just get in and go

if you've already paid VH for it, ask them how it works

We did use the private transfer on our trip 3 years ago and ended up in a very elegant Mercedes. Driver met us inside took us to the car then raced us to our hotel y) Never used a taxi so can't comment on those. Very happy with the transfer y) y)

Thanks all - I'll try the free Virgin provided transfer. If I was paying then taxi it would be but I'm sure the included transfer will do the job just fine based on what Petmadness says :)
