Hi,

A friend of mine has just bought a load of air miles at a fraction of the cost it would have been buying them through FC.

Personally it seems to good to be true & generally if something seems to good to be true it normally is!

I was just wondering if anyone on here has any experience with buyairmiles.com ...good or bad??

Thanks :) :)

Yeah it does...was on it myself last night!!
Sadly can't post the url as it's blocked on my work system. It most definitely does exist!

$19 for 1000 air-miles ? that seems expensive to me.

If you buy your air-miles via Tesco using club card it works out £2.50 for 625 air-miles (when no deal on)
Hopefully if my maths is correct (exchange rate today = 1.66)

£2.50 = $4.15
so for 1000 miles:

Tesco 1.6 (1000/625) x £2.50 ($4.15) = $6.64
buyairmiles.com $19.00 for 1000

Forgive me if my maths isn't correct, or if you haven't got a Tesco Club card, but I personally don't think the website offers good value for money.

Hmmm I'm not sure about this one... There's something about it that I don't like, but I can't quite put a finger on it...

I'm with you Mrsw It all sounded a little too dodgy for me & alarm bells started ringing very loudly however we have just checked her FC account & 30,000 miles dropped in this morning with the origin saying Chase Bank Miles Offer...
£344.00 versus £465 direct through FC.

I agree the Tesco deal is by far the better offer but she doesn't shop at Tesco enough to get that many miles ( clearly not committed enough!!)
She is going to attempt to use them for an upgrade this week, Ill be interested to see how that goes....

Your Tesco example is not correct. It isn't £2.50 for 625 miles, it's £2.50's worth of Clubcard vouchers, so you need to spend the required £ amount in Tesco to earn £2.50's worth of vouchers.

The Clubcard rate is good, but I guess even with the normal miles booster, at 1p per FC mile, it's cheaper than buying from this site. So if you have any upcoming flights, or have flown in the last 6 months, the miles booster may be a better (and safer) option.

If you whois the domain then google the address, there are various scams attached to the address.

14747 N Northsight Blvd Suite 111, PMB 309

That address seems to be a proxy url company (they've bought the domain via that company either for convenience or for anonymity) so perhaps not linked to the scams but you don't know for sure.

Advertisers try to cash in on the fear that you are missing out on something, there's always stories going around about bargains to be had and click-bait links about 'bizarre' tricks to pick up ipads for pennies. If it's too good to be true then it probably is. Personally I don't think it's even that big a saving from buying direct or via other schemes such as Tesco. I don't even know how a company such as this would acquire air miles in the first place. Something just isn't sitting right with this one.

Just a quick update.... So she bought these miles , I never expected her to ever see them in her account..they arrived , I then never expected her to be able to use them for anything & she has just used them for an upgrade on a flight next month...
It remains to be seen if she will actually get that upgrade or ( as I expect & have warned her) whether between now & departure she will be contacted with an 'issue'.I guess time will tell....

I think this falls into the 'if looks too good to be true...' category.

One thing to remember though, if VS think there is something dodgy and breaches FC terms, they can close the account, void all miles and if miles used for a flight, cancel the ticket.

Ain't a bargepole long enough...

And this breaches FC terms in spades --- pt 9.1 & 9.2 Fraud

Just a friendly thought, especially in terms of IH's last post:

Assuming VS checks this site occasionally, it's really not going to be that hard for them to isolate the account which has had 30k miles drop in via "Chase Bank Miles Offer" in the last month...
