Not quite a trip report, but I posted the comment below on the Virgin Atlantic Facebook page and have received loads of likes and comments, far more than I expected.

What I am interested in now is, how much do we know about the training and skills that the cabin crew have. Do they have medical knowledge over and above 'First Aid', how much training do they actually receive. Just interested :)

"Just wanted to say well done to the cabin crew on the VS074 flight on Friday 1st August, when a baby collapsed, followed closely by a very distraught grandma during our flight home from Orlando. The cabin crew were very professional and dealt with the problems brilliantly, despite many people wanting to have a look at what was going on and some crying. The baby recovered as did grandma. We sometimes forget that they are not just there to serve us tea and coffee, they have a myriad of responsibilities and knew exactly what they were doing"

I think we all forget sometimes that the main aim of crew is our safety. Most of us have no idea how much training they put in to "serve us tea" I hope I never have to see them in action!
