For a couple booking UC on a LGW configured 747 which seating is better? Side by side (A-K) or one behind the other (e.g. 7A-8A)?
Unless you get 6AK (which are perfect for a couple) then I would say one behind the other personally. 7AK are okay too, but after that the gap/aisle gets wider so would be difficult to talk without shouting.
I agree with Neil, and always try for 6AK
One disadvantage is no overhead locker and if you don't board early you'll not find one anywhere near your seat.
I wouldn't let it put me off though, just ask cabin crew to stow your bag.

Thanks for the bag info. We would only have one small tote bag each. Not any larger than a lap top bag. Is there anywhere to stow a small bag like that under your seat?
During the cruise you could probably put it behind you, in the gap between the seat and the window. And it may fit inside the ottoman although that'll restrict your foot space. Failing that the cabin crew will be more than happy to find storage space for take-off & landing if necessary.
I've never had an issue with space in the overhead bins in UC. Despite what some overly territorial passengers may try and have you believe, it is NOT one bin per seat and if everyone plays nicely there's more than enough room for everyone.

Sadly they don't always play nicely. Last year I witness two other passengers nearly come to blows over a late boarder trying to ram his bag into a space it didn't really fit next to the other passengers luggage who was rightly concerned about the way his luggage was being treated.
