Flying upper class for the first time in early October on VS28 from MCO to LGW. But we have a few questions for you experienced fliers.

Firstly, I am reading mixed reviews online, I noticed that there is a bar in the upper class cabin. How long is alcohol served during the flight, does it stop just before breakfast, or can we keep getting served alcohol until the moment we prepare for landing. (Not alcoholics promise, just want to get our monies worth.)

Also when leaving MCO, I noticed that we get access to the Delta Sky Lounge - what is that like? But do we get to use the Sky Priority line at security, because I am confused if we can or not.

Hope that makes sense

We fly MCO to MAN in UC 2 or 3 times year. Alcohol is available on request but I have never seen anyone sat at the bar after dinner service is finished. People usually make their beds and the cabin lights are dimmed for sleeping. The crew are available in the galley though and I'm sure they';d be happy to bring you drinks. The delta lounge is OK, nothing fancy lots of comfy chairs and tables withy a full bar service and really limited snacks like cheese and crackers.

UC passengers are able to use the Priority security lane just to the right of the Hyatt lifts.

In theory you can use the bar once dinner service has finished right up until the seatbelt sign comes on for landing.

But on an overnight flight you probably won't be very popular if you sit there chatting all night, as it'll disturb the passengers in adjacent seats.

The lights will be switched off in the expectation that everyone wants to sleep shortly after dinner. If you plan to stay up you can, of course, order drinks at your seat whenever you like.

You will be very unpopular if you are anything but silent; the majority will be taking advantage of their flat beds, which is the real advantage of UC. After all, you can get alcohol all night even when seated down the back.

I don't think I'm allowed to use the words I would like to describe the Delta Sky lounge.
It's not good. No proper food. Quite crowded. Seating not the most comfortable.
Not a patch on Virgin lounges.
For me the best part of UC from the states is the flatbed.
A bottle of wine or a few beers I can get any time.
I would definitely recommend bedding down after dinner.
Although the crew will serve alcohol on request, they will stop if you are drunk.

I enjoy the bar on a ex-USA night flight mainly as I'm the only one there! I usually ask for dessert and cheese to be eaten there and I spend an hour or so reading some UK papers to catch up before heading down to bed.

I've done a few late nighters with other passengers at the bar but we had to keep it very quiet and the morning getting off at LHR was not fun. :$ I think we all wore sunglasses! 8D It does somewhat pay to be sensible and not have a raging hangover in the morning.

You do get to use the priority security line at MCO when flying in Upper (which is located on the right hand side section of security as you look towards the entrance to security (if you have not used MCO before, the security there is split into 2 sections). It's the security line that's at the opposite side to where the VS check-in area is located.

Whilst the Delta lounge at MCO is just OK, the one thing I do like about the Delta lounge at MCO is that you usually get an escort to the aircraft by VS ground staff once the flight is called :) I've never seen this at any other airport!!

As others have said people will be lying down to sleep but don't let that put you off visiting the bar. As long as you're quiet the crew will be happy to serve and chat with you, who knows a few other pax might join you.
Even on a night flight with no stay at the bar you will not be disappointed with the amount of alcohol on offer/served!

Some would say you've paid your monies you are entitled to do what you like. What am I thinking, some already do, forget if others are trying to sleep, no mater what class you fly!!

In all seriousness, they will feed you until you pop and if you want, drink until you pop. I have sat at the bar on night flights if unable to sleep, you may not get a crew member there all time now as in the past but your will be kept topped up. If you do sit there its hard whatever volume you are set up not to be heard by the seats that are close by but they do have ear plugs they can use ):

Don't forget, once you turn left........... :P

Enjoy each and every part of your time in UC. You will be stuffed full of food and drink, don't worry about getting your money's worth.

I must admit, I'd always wondered about the LGW bar set up - it's the only configuration I've not tried and it did look a bit like it was intruding in the cabin. The LHR 744 is my favourite as it's got a good amount of space/seats, the 346 is ok too. And sadly, the 333 is turning out to be all fur coat and no knickers with the early onset wear and tear. Pity as I originally thought it was one of the few redeeming features of UC on that plane.

Anyway, have a good flight. The Aberfeldy is decent enough if a final nightcap is needed. I got a 2 thirds full tumbler brought to me last time I was in PE. Slept very well :-)
