Yeah, I know the comparison, but sadly Virgin never seems to have this and BA only allows upgrade from one cabin only.
I know the flexibility of a sale PE to club upgrade is good, but in reality in both case's we're paying about a PE price to get to business, but more miles in Virgin's case and more planning. I don't see virgin changing that (indeed, its easier to get virgin miles I find, 6 x hotel.com for instance).
So a shift towards BA's any ticket upgrade is incredibly unlikely, so whenever VS mess with the fare codes and print incorrect info on their website, we kind of all know what the result is going to be.
I've had a BA credit card for 2 years because of that PE to Club upgrade thing, but in reality they got me with the incredibly useful reward x 2 voucher. Imagine if Virgin did something like _that_ eh?

Never gonna happen...
(Yes, I know they do something called a companion ticket, but it isn't worth the pixels on the screen).
