Hi peeps

I'm loving this website much to the annoyance of my wife who's not on the same excitement level as me yet hehe

Can I ask another few quick questions?

I always see people saying "In the Y" What does the Y stand fore.
And when people mention about checking in they say "We got seq12" or something like that?

Sorry if this is mentioned somewhere else on the forums and for being a complete noob :D

Y is the used to describe the economy cabin. It is used because on most airlines a Y fare code is the highest ticket for economy. W stands for PE and J for business/upper class.

SEQ is the number that you check in, so if you are the first person to check in for a flight you would be SEQ1.

Go to Toolbox and Fare Codes
It explains them all.
I can just imagine you getting all excited over getting seq1 and trying to persuade your wife you've done something great. Mine wasn't in the slightest bit impressed when I managed it.
She just kept on about what advantage it gives you.
Well none but that's not the point.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm also now thinking about upgrading to W as well.

I wouldn't say this is a man-woman thing :?

I am a woman and it is my hubby that doesn't care about all the fare codes, miles, seq numbers etc... Although when I managed Seq1 and 2 for our recent trip (with BA, but that's not important, and annoyingly when I checked us both in he was the one with the bl00dy seq1, not me, although I was the main passenger and everything), he did humour me by doing a "seq1 dance" in the middle of the departure lounge. Bless him. :X

And then when I looked at the whole M-G palava, he almost felt asleep. Even now I'm not entirely convinced that he is that appreciative of my efforts, but maybe he will when we've done DTCI and sipping champagne/getting a massage at the CH, or sitting on the bar on-board... ;)

I am with you on this one MRSW my hubby doesn't understand anything Virgin related and when i mention stuff from the site it all goes over his head. He does like the UC upgrades I have managed to get on our last three Virgin flights though.

Its when I say must just check if we can earn miles on this before buying and giving the checkout girls at Tesco my Virgin or BA amex for payment plus my clubcard. I also have to check which shops take the Amex or Mastercard double points and all that. He was an engineer in the RAF for 39 years so when he goes on about his beloved aircraft engines that goes over my head.

Well no upgrade for me or the wife, as we booked through Thomas Cook signature, and we bought allocation seats apparently so only way is if we cancel the tickets and book again!!!! :(

Next time you organise the trip, then it will be done properly ):

Fortunately all trip planning is left to me. I would find it far too stressful not being in total control ;)

Sometimes I think i should have been a Travel Agent as I get as much fun out of the planning as I do out of the trip itself. I am a little OCD with it all some unkind individuals have commented ii)

Edinburgh Castle wrote:Why the obsession with sequence. 1, 2 etc. I like to get the high numbers to gauge how busy the plane is!! Anyone had sequence 300 plus? That would be a challenge!!

479! Beat that, if you can! ): ):

The reason. :D
