Hey all,

I know it only recently re-opened, but has anyone stayed here? Have currently booked a 1 bedroom suite (very annoying how they have little details about their rooms/suites!). We have never been to Palm Springs before, but wanted to fly into LAX, and will be spending 3 nights somewhere. We aren't terribly keen on staying in LA itself.

Are there any other hotels you would recommend in the area? Luxury if possible!

Hi Hamster, I've not stayed at that one but there are good reviews about it on Trip Advisor.

For the past couple of years we've gone to Palm Springs to watch the Indian Wells tennis. We stayed at the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort, had a wonderful suite room overlooking the golf course. Previously we stayed at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - another beautiful resort. We have already reserved rooms for next March at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells but looking at the Ritz-Carlton, we may change our choice y)

We loved the Rancho Mirage area, not so keen on the busier Palm Springs locations. In my opinion, not in the 'luxury' up market areas a bit further down. The drive from LA was sooooo easy, although we did stay overnight at the Marriott airport hotel and then picked up the car from their Lobby desk. Left LA early Saturday morning and was in Palm Springs 2hours later.

Hope that helps :)

We are booked to stay a couple of nights next month.

They are offering some great rates including resort credit and also encompassing the parking and resort fees. Takes us to about net $60 a night!

From what I have read on tripadvisor, the firepit rooms seem to be the most desirable. These were not available on the rate we have booked but a quick email to the hotel asking about this received a prompt reply from the general manager saying it should be possible if they are available.

When are you booked to stay? I will give some more feedback once we are there if you are still to travel.

Hamster,
We are at RC Rancho Mirage right now, checked in yesterday for two days. Got great deal on their own site as with the comments from other posts. You won't regret booking here. Will write you some proper feedback post our stay. Quick overview... great rooms, we are in deluxe room, great position with amazing views at night, great service. We have our baby daughter here and they've really looked after her.

Hi Hamster
We are now back from the US so here is a bit more detail on Rancho Mirage. So we had two nights at the Rancho Mirage.
Great price booked through their own site (same as Expedia) though additional charge for resort fee ($30 a night) and valet parking ($30 a night - no option for self parking).

Location is up in the mountains couple of minutes off the main road. Overlooking Palm Springs. Great view from the pools, perimeter walkway, restaurants.

We had a deluxe room - quite small - oversized bathroom and hallway but small bedroom, especially as we had a crib too. Nice room amenities (Asprey). Room and bed quality as you'd expect at Ritz Carlton. As another post stated there was some ground level rooms with fire pits. These were lit at night and positioned at their end of patio (patio being ground floor equivalent of the balcony we had on floor 3). Fire pits looked great but didn't see anyway sat out on their patio enjoying, perhaps novelty wears off. There were also some great fire pits around the perimeter walkway.

What made the hotel great was the staff, very high quality from valet to front desk to restaurants. Great service, very accommodating especially great with our baby.

Great pool, overlooking mountains, warm water and open late in the evening.

We ate at the casual dining restaurant, good value for Ritz Carlton. There is a fine dining restaurant opening later in the year.

Any more questions let me know.

jmacconnacher,
The fire pit rooms looked amazing at night, but I just didn't see any one sat on their patio next to their pit enjoying it which made me feel like it was a nice novelty. Some were also on major walkways to the pool meaning sometimes a little lack of privacy. I guess the answer depends on budget and the location of the room. If you are paying the same for the room, or budget no issue then go for it but perhaps request/hope for a quiet position in terms of guest traffic. Our trip was booked at short notice so didn't have too much time to research, but I was happy with the room we had on the top floor (floor 3)with balcony. There is perimeter walk around the edge of the property to enjoy the view with a large fire pit and chairs around it, which seemed to be used more widely.
Have a great stay, I'm sure you will.
