Do the a343s currently fly to vancouver? I'm planning a trip next year but I'm nervous around the dreamliners joining the fleet? #nervousflyer
What's to be nervous about? The Dreamliner and the A330 are possibly the safest aeroplanes ever built.
Nobody knows exactly when the 787s will be delivered and their first route although Hong Kong has been mentioned a few times.

I'm nervous about any aircraft but I think all the bad press they've received has made me unrationnally overthink it!!

On the CAPA site, a graph showing the projected deliveries indicates that the first three 787s will arrive in 2015, followed by 8 in 2016, another 3 in 2017, and the final 2 in 2018.
I don't know if this is accurate or not. I thought the first one was due for delivery around September.
The first is due in September with the first passenger flight in October and the second arrives in December

The 787 has been "oversold" by Boeing PR, much like T5 at Heathrow. They introduced a lot of new technology at once and screamed look at this it's great! They are now getting a backlash because of the number of teething troubles. They'll eventually get ironed out. Compare this to the public marketing (lack of) Airbus did for the A350 which is almost as revolutionary an aircraft, because Airbus already learned this lesson when overselling the A380.

She's on her way back to Manchester and due to land within the next hour.
So anyone wanting to see her in VS colours again, tomorrow could be your last chance....

G-VAIR is now at MAN, should be towed into the Air Livery hangar in due course so the next time it emerges it'll be in a different colour, presumably all-white.

The unveiling on the 8th July 2007 (in MM/DD/YY format it's 07/08/07) was also a case of just getting something on show for that date. The plane was literally held together using non-aerospace standard parts which meant that it has to be partly dismantled again to bring it up to standard before testing commenced.
I too am sure it'll all be sorted out eventually. It has to be really, Boeing has a large order book for the 787 and their reputation has been tarnished due to the well-documented delays, issues and the grounding last year.

She's now at Gatwick, and indeed she's painted all over white (I haven't seen G-VAIR like this though, it says on the vs source) Its having its seats and interior stripped out before heading for LDE for storage (may be meeting the scrap man's axe if nobody buys the aircraft, like G-VSEA did)

How did you find out that G-VFAR was next?
So long G-VAIR. I flew on her four times, IAD and ORD routes. Here she is:
There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles
I believe she gets taken out if service end of August/beginning Sept.
Excellent - when does the only other non-AVOD 343 go?
Always planning a trip somewhere!

The second Dreamliner is due December this year but not sure if that will be enough to remove both remaining A343s. G-VELD African Queen is the last non-AVOD but at age 16 is two years younger than G-VSUN.

Here's a nice list of where all the ten A343s have ended up, G-VSEA, G-VBUS & G-VAEL have all met the scrap man's torch so far but G-VHOL which was 2nd off the production line and used as a test aircraft for 5 years before joining VS is still alive and well as EP-APA in Iran at 22 years old.
As long as it's gone by next May (my next VS trip) I don't mind!
It looks like the end is almost nigh for G-VFAR. An LHR-CWL flight has appeared on the flight movements page for Sept 8th.
Is VS823 on 8th September the end of VFAR, or is that a separate trip, I thought the 240's always finished service with an overhaul at MNL?
They usually do however G-VFAR is owned by VS and not leased so the Return to Leaser detailing is not necessary.

VFAR is gone.. Its gone to LGW for something ( i think for decommissioning)
I got G-VELD back from ORD this week and tbh non AVOD was not an issue. Tablets were on offer in UC although is loaded a couple of films onto my iPad earlier in the day when I checked which aircraft was on the route
ELD is the last non-AVOD aircraft in the fleet.
