Flying club upgrade

Hi...I'm a beginner when it comes to the flying club.. Got a few miles for hubby and me..not enough for an upgrade So I got myself a shiny new va credit card to get ne lots of miles..that's the plan. Am just about to book man/mco for June 15. Ec on the way out pe on the return. What are the chances of getting upgrades at the airport for 3 of us either way?

If you're looking to use miles you need ( technically ) to be in an upgradeable ( ie more expensive) fare class .Upgrades at the airport tend to be cash upgrades if VS are offering them.
There is no guarantee that even if you have an upgradeable fare there will be reward ( upgrade seats ) available.
There have been occasions when others here have been offered miles upgrades ( when not on an eligible fare)- usually when the cabin is oversold and VS need to move people to suit their own ends.

Keep an eye on your " manage my booking" on the VS website. You may get offered the opportunity to upgrade before your flight. Airport cash upgrades ( if available) can vary in price enormously. I don't know how many miles you have but have you looked at a miles and money fare or a combi fare?

Currently got 19000 points between us, will get 3000 when I use my credit card first time, together with miles for booking on the card..not much I know!! This year I managed to get a one way upgrade for 4 of us for £360, which I thought was damn good.
