Online Booking Discount - Where'd it go?

OK, I may be being VERY stupid here - (I did check the search, but couldn't find the definitive answer quickly).

I know BA recently announced changes to their online booking fees - but when did VS stop giving an online discount for bookings?

It used to be £5/10 per person - so where did it go?! As I said, it could be me ignoring my mails or going blind on the site, but given they've added a multitude of surcharges over the years for fuel/security etc it seems a bit rich that they've canned the online discount?


(Maybe it's still there, but not itemised, or maybe they're doing a BA/BMI and charging more for phone bookings? Sorry to those that know, but given that all of my bookings are either through our travel guys or online, I don't know if they are... [:I])

I know that the online booking bonus FC miles were a temporary thing, that were extended.

Personally, I prefer extra FC points to a small discount, but then I'm a confirmed points whore. [}:)]

Doesn't seem to Nick. Just tried a dummy booking - no online discount listed as it used to be.

And if you add to that the loss of the online booking FC miles bonus (since there is no sign of it being extended beyond the end of this month), VS does seem to be moving away from their past enthusiasm for online booking.

It is a shame, though since they seem to be following BA's approach, perhaps it was inevitable.

Quietly slipped away in return for no credit card fee perhaps?

Yes it's a shame, can't recall now if it applied when I flew to Washington at end-Nov but thinking back I didn't recall seeing it ...

I think I mentioned this before, but according to the airlines own IATA it costs 50p to transact a booking online v. £5 offline. So it looks like this is pure profit ... [:(]

Call me cynical, but did it quietly slip away at around the same time as the fuel surchage was reduced? [:0]
