But were they frumpy though?!?! :o)

I'd say the Panoramic Suite looks more impressive with the 3 sides of windows.

In precisely 165 minutes at the time of writing the taxi will be here to take me to Terminal 4 at Heathrow and the Etihad Lounge. ABD8 will have begun.

Next stop Abu Dhabi, then Singapore, then Brisbane.
I guess I had better pack!

John - I love the look of those packing cubes!

We're not going to see you next week on Dragon's Den promoting your own business of manufacturing and distributing packing cubes, are we? :o) :o) :o)

Lol, not likely! I've just ordered another set of small cubes as I can't seem to get the shoe bags, and having tested them, I can get my nice trainers (sneakers for any Yanks) into the small packing cube, so they're a good substitute y)

This time two weeks today I will be heading off to BHX for my first business class flight with Turkish Airlines. Flying via Istanbul to Singapore to watch the F1 Grand Prix. We are also going to stopover in Istanbul for 3 nights on the return journey.

Have a great time in Las Vegas. We've been many times and love the place. Are you planning to visit the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam etc.?

That sounds like a very nice holiday, I'm surprised we're not going to the same places like march! ;)
We're going to hire a car and drive to the canyon and Hoover dam...if I'm completely honest as long as I see the Liberace exhibit I'll leave happy! :|

This time next week, plus another 20 or so weeks Mrs D will start the packing. My shoes exactly fit into Tesco carrier bag. (other makes are available but don't give me airmiles)
She will use a packing cube for her shoes, I think it's called a suitcase.

The following is entirely true:

When it comes to packing, I normally start laying stuff out in my spare room three to four days before departure. It goes in the case the night before a morning flight or the day of departure for a later flight.

I have a 'pre-holiday haircut' booked for the day before.

I draw out cash from the ATM in the days before based on the amount that I'll need and exchange currency the day before I go.

I pick and choose the clothes I wear before I go very carefully (so I don't end up with something that I want to take but needs laundering) and make sure that I have a good three to four days to wash and iron the stuff that I want to take but have been wearing.

This year, I consider myself very fortunate to have flown UC to LAS for 16 nights and will be heading, at the end of November, UC to MCO then Delta First to BOS and US back to LHR. However, before I get to my second US jaunt, there is the small matter of another trip to contend with...

Despite turning 41-years-young later this year, my dear parents want to do a 'family holiday'. Now my siblings (both younger that I) are married and each has a young son - one is 17 months, the other 7 months). I, meanwhile, am the happy bachelor who spends his time and money as he pleases (or, depending on your outlook, I'm just a selfish git depending).

So, on no lesser airline that Monarch, we're all (mum, dad, brother, sister, brother-law, sister-in-law and my two nephews) heading to the exotic island of Menorca this Saturday.

Or so I thought:

I have this penchant for tracking planes on routes that I will be flying on in the not too distant future (hey, I'm on V-Flyer - look at me trying to justify that)!

Well, to cut a short story long, for the last few weeks, I've opened up Plane Finder on my phone and tried to track ZB762. But to no avail.

I've even tried to find ZB762 on the LGW phone app. But again; no joy. I put this down to the fact that charters don't always show up.

However, curiosity got the better of me and this evening, I phoned my dad. In fact, I've just got off the phone.

Did I get the flight number right?

Indeed I did.

Did I get the 9am departure time right?

Oh yes.

And did I get the departure date right?

Um. Erh...

Great post thank you. I'm sorry to laugh at your misfortune but I absolutely loved this.

Related to a lot of the previous detail as well - except the bit about turning 41. Been a while since I was 41!

Come on now, chop chop, you can propel yourself, it's family time and it will give your parents lots of happy memories. :)

LOVE love love packing cubes....! have three small ones. 1 for underwear, 1 for swimsuits/socks and 1 for wires/rechargers.

Everything else gets rolled or bundled, depending on if we are touring or staying in one place...
