Security at Manchester Airport .

I will be flying out of Manchester to Orlando on 15/09/14 so can someone tell me the average delays are going through customs and security . Is it as bad as made out to be or worse as it does seem to have died a death in the national press ...Thankyou Dave .

I went through on August 14th. We were a party of 10 with 3 children in pushchairs so we were directed down the fast track route.

It was quick and would have taken around 5 minutes, even though I had to be scanned and frisked and generally probed, had the two women in our parties decided not to bring large bottles of nail polish remover and antibacterial hand gel in their hand luggage bags!!

I wouldn't worry too much. Most of the 'scare' stories are about travel during the school holidays where the airport is a lot busier and there are a lot more people who haven't followed the security rules so tale longer to get through. Delays at MAN were compounded because of the changed security rules re electronic devices plus some road works.

You are flying on a Monday in September where the circumstances are different to a Saturday in August!

We flew on 2 September and were so pleased to have Fast Track with being UC. We had arrived at the airport at 6:30 am and were checked in by 7. The queue just to get up the escalator was the length of the check in desk area then more queuing upstairs before we went off through the Fast Track line. Would hate to say how long it took in the normal line. Good luck!
