I've just had a notification that the prices have dropped on my upcoming MCO flights in November. I've checked the Virgin website and we can now get M+M fares leaving 13th Nov for £210 rtn. This is less than the Govt fees & taxes we paid when we booked the flights a while ago. I was under the impression these taxes etc were set..can someone enlighten me please? ?

Only the government taxes (UK APD and US Transportation tax) and the airport fees are fixed

The other part of those 'fees and taxes' is the VS 'carrier imposed surcharge' aka 'fuel surcharge' (which is not a tax) and it can charge what it likes for that and change it whenever it wants.

I've got my answer! There is a "glitch" in the website and the fuel surcharge is not being applied to all online bookings from Manchester & Glasgow. They will apparently honour any bookings that are made at the low price, but are trying to fix it.

Oh well done.

They could easily have gone down the "it's a mistake and are rescinding all fares' route.
