I decided to take to Twitter- marvellous service! No 20 minute phone call wait. A swift reply from the VS Twitterer who confirmed my flights were booked and confirmed and they have reminded the ticketing office to issue.

What seats did you choose Bretty? I was thinking Row 6 middle seats as it is a small cabin, though near the galley and toilets.

Hiya matey,
Sorry to read you still haven't got your ticket through, fingers crossed for later tonight or tomorrow. Otherwise, just keep reminding them.

The 777-300ER with business staggered is quite a large cabin. Row 6 is forward of the galley, with the loos, and appears to be behind the First cabin. I've gone for 8K and 9H, a couple rows behind the galley to be away from any noise, and hopefully by a window.

I'm happy now, not as happy as I would be if I was flying VS, but I can relax, it's sorted and I just need to speak with my travel agent now to rearrange my airport transfers which will likely be via the monorail. The ANA business package looks excellent, especially the food, which I'd expect from Japanese, they're so proud of their food and its presentation. The lounge at T2 looks quite good. Not a Clubhouse, but a good substitute.

Once you start with packing cubes you will never go back, they're so handy. I just chuck the full cubes into hotel drawers and take out what I need and repack dirty clothes in another packing cube!

Which one are you looking at?

If it's the United lounge in T2B, yes it's very good - full bar service and good food offer. Very impressive for a US airline.

I don't know which gates ANA fly from though - if they leave from T2A the Lufthansa lounge will be more convenient. Not been in that one.

The designated lounge is the United Lounge in T2B gumshoe. It looks impressive.

Great news, have you logged in and sorted out your seats and API info yet? If not, remember the VS reference won't work, you'll have to enter one of the ticket numbers from the email and then you'll get to the booking and see the ANA reference.

Oh yes! We have chosen the middle seats of Row 6 as we quite fancied being in the smaller cabin. It is near the galley and toilets but hope the ques may stretch back into the rear cabins rather than into the smaller forward cabin, which has just 8 seats in it. Noise cancelling headphones may help ;)

Very excited now and maybe not the thing to say on a forum of VS devotees, but I think the change to ANA may be a good thing for a Japan trip. The business product looks excellent and from what I can see, the staggered seating will be preferable to the herringbone layout on VS. I also think the food service will be better. The wine may not be so good but no worries, I can drink gin. Mmmmmm ginnnnnn ):

I am pleased the tickets have arrived. I felt very uneasy having the VS flights cancelled and no solid confirmation of the re-booked flights, especially after having spent so much time and money on booking hotels etc. Now I can breathe a deep sigh and carry on with trip planning y)

Spoken to BA. They can't release our BA eticket/PNR because virgin haven't given them sufficient info to be able to pass the data protection test.

Absolutely fuming.

n( Sorry to hear that. Why not "chat" to them on their Twitter page. The chaps on there seem very responsive and helpful. It may get things moving for you?

And now they have moved in to The Queens Terminal (T2) at LHR it should be even better :)

At last it looks like we're all sorted, it's only been what, 10 days? Long enough!

Clarkeysntfc I hope you get your BA ref soon, I'd do what gfonk did.

I've been looking at reviews of ANA business, I'm really impressed with what I read, so I'm looking forward to it. I've filled in my FC details too and will be keen to see what happens with miles and TPs, on the M fare I originally booked I should be due 6 TPs so let's see.

Anyway, have a good weekend everybody. We're off to see the new film Pride tonight and then going for some real Chinese food, yum yum (but not chicken feet I hasten to add!)

Maximus - I noticed mention of a bar when I was doing seat selection for ANA but couldn't see it in the cabin layout, but seatguru identifies a bar at the rear of the business cabin, so who knows...

Did this just now and the VS agent put me through to BA who gave me the PNR.

Been booked in to I class which is a miles/TP earning class on BA even though we spent FC miles on the original booking...!

Think that's everyone in this thread sorted now ^)

This is the first time I have ever had a cancelled flight. Not a pleasant experience at all but it seems to have worked out OK in the end for us thankfully.
