Hello everyone, new to V-Flyer and what a great place. Full of enthusiast’s about flying like myself.

Been reading so many posts and reviews the last couple of days. From questions about the menu on PE compared to E, to what’s the best usage of miles (general conscious being upgrade to UC using miles). Loved reading ever one. My brain is overloaded now with these acronyms :$

Been using Virgin for quite a while. Infact i used to work for them in Manor Royal (HQ) about 10 years back as a Business Analyst and ever since been using them. Managed to actually go on their inaugural flight to Toronto till they pulled shortly after 9\11.

Mainly travel in PE, and just seems perfect for my needs. Travel with my wife (who isn’t a good traveller) so find sitting next to her helps. We tried UC and she didn’t like the space apart. Being quite a fussy eater I do like the choices in upper, and economy for the simplicity. Find PE quite terrible. But the main reason I use Virgin over BA for personal travel is just simply the way they treat you. They actually make you feel special no matter which cabin you travel in.

Went to Cuba last month and it was just so seamless from the airport to the plane. Checked in using the dedicated check-in desk, then fast-tracked through security, and then called first with UC onto the plane. Quick question does this happen at Heathrow FastTrack using PE? Guessing not as they have a UC clubhouse which uses a different line? ?|

Anyhow flying to Goa via VA flight to Mumbai on 1st December. If anyone has any tips info about this route please let me know. Have searched the forum for this route though there doesn’t seem allot of info on it compared to Cuba and other routes.

Anyhow back to some more reading. Still need to understand all this G fare stuff and rewards.

PS. I’ll try to write a review about my trip to Cuba, however writing is defiantly no my strong point!!! And find it actually quite daunting. Writing this was a first, though just thought I had to.

Welcome to V-Flyer :)
Did I read that correctly?? Your other half DOES NOT like UC v(
I think I am going to congratulate her, via yourself, on a first.
If you are ever on a flight with a fellow v-flyer who is in PE or EC I am sure they will gladly assist you in swapping seats, just to help out you understand.
Some of us have been know to sell our first born to turn left :o)

Welcome to V-F! Be warned, once you thing you have things sorted someone will come along with a new twist that will set your brain reeling again (e.g.the ex AMS / DUB / BRU trick).

Do write up your Cuba trip. There are a few TRs from there, but never enough.

You're correct in thinking that there is a dedicated security line for UC at LHR (it's upstairs where the DTCI is). I don't know whether PE grants you any kind of other fast track at LHR.

Loving Gold.... haha, I know unfortunately you did read that correctly. As much as I enjoy the flat beds and general aura with UC, the Mrs doesn’t :( She actually prefers just sitting next to me due to her panic on air travel. Such contrasts to me, whereas I love everything about flying, and feel it’s part of my actual holiday.
Pjh. Thanks for the info, and your first sentence seems like another language to me. Just when I thought I got most of the acronyms!

Hi my wife used to be a poor flyer until she went on a 'Fear of flying 1 day course' with BA.
Since then there has been no problem & she loves UC, so it might be a way to turn left.

Hello and welcome to v-flyer, stick around you'll soon pick up the lingo, we all do. I second what David said about a fear of flying course, VS do them too and it might things better for trips in UC, especially if you manage to get hold of some G's to upgrade from another cabin.

Hi from another newbie!
Would be very interested in your thoughts on Cuba and any tips (well, from anyone who has been there actually). Off there myself next month. Travelling alone, so grateful for any advice that can be offered.

Thanks all for you messages. Managed to book my wife onto a Fear of flying course. Hopefully may help in the long run.

G-VROS. Found Cuba amazing, especially Havana. Stayed 3 nights in Havana then 7 nights in Santa Maria (beach resort). Havana is so bubbling and night life is Salsa heaven. Good cocktails at reasonable prices. A downside though is the food. I struggled allot with the food, more so as I’m quite fussy though just found it very bland bar the hotel. Allot of tipping as well, which I wasn’t accustomed to, so make sure your carrying change. Oh a heads up, maybe take some snacks with you, and also take pocket toilet paper. You’ll have to buy toilet paper otherwise after, or before you walk in.
Enjoy, and it’s defiantly safe. Walked all through and never once felt intimidated. Lastly don’t forget to keep 25CUC for exit\departure tax

Hi wdcosta,
Thanks for the tips re Cuba. Have just returned and echo what you have said. Had a fabulous time (3 nights in Havana and 7 at Breezes Jibacoa) and certainly felt very safe all the time.

I'm not keen on UC. I just like the DTCI, Private Security, Clubhouse and bar on board. Prefer the PE seat any day.
