Afternoon all,

Just managed to get a couple of days off to make a weeks break over the New Year.

Mrs Hull and I are booked DUB-LAS on DL in Business for £1335pp, not a bad little earner either 150% miles plus 100% AU bonus and 16 TP's.

We have a suite in the Delano all booked up, bring on the party.

Well done ... I was in Vegas last New Year and had a great time.

Not sure I'd do it again though because it was ridiculously busy, the queues for everything were horrendous and it took an age to get anywhere. I love Vegas but preferably when it's quiet!

I was relatively unimpressed with New Year itself having chosen a party at the Palazzo in 2010-11. Not a great view of any of the fireworks on the strip, everything goes up in price for the day before and after, and the 'free bar' included in the party had one server and a 20 person queue at all times...

Plan your new year celebration a bit better than mines.

Classic example of the difference, Casino Royales $1 beer was $5 on new years eve...

Not yet mate, we're looking at the Delano - looks interesting and not been to that one yet so will probs join you guys down that end of the strip.

Flight wise, I'm still trying to find the best use of miles for the trip in Upper/Business/First - there are quite a few ways to get there so this may take a while :P

A question open to everyone.... Any suggestions on what to do and where to go for NYE in Vegas?

The Strip closes to traffic from about 5 or 6pm and becomes a huge outdoor party. Getting anywhere then becomes a major challenge so don't bank on being able to easily hop from one venue to another.

The big casinos and their nightclubs all have NYE parties with big name DJs. Just be aware that, after midnight, the casinos sometimes close their doors to people who aren't already in (their own hotel guests excluded obviously).

So my advice would be to pick your venue of choice, get there early and stick to it. Or, if you prefer, party with the masses on the Strip. There's a big co-ordinated fireworks display at midnight which you'll see anywhere on the Strip. If you choose downtown, Fremont Street is ticket-only and hosts its own party.

we went for New Years for 2013 and went to an outside party at New York New York. It was the only party on the strip but sectioned off on the bridge. ^here was music and dancing and an open bar. It was great because we got the party atmosphere on the strip but without the queuing and with nicer toilets. Fab view of the fireworks too!

I'm flying out on New Year's Eve on VS43.

Any idea what the loads are like on New Year's Eve? Also, does the crew make any announcements when the UK sees in the New Year?

I was in Vegas for New Year's 2004. We went to the opening of PURE at Ceasars Palace, hosted by Mariah Carey. I remember the balcony having great views of the fireworks, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the low key reaction. No one really got excited about it at all.

Not sure where to go this year. I don't fancy the crush of people on the Strip. I was thinking the Ghost Bar at the Palms. The balcony has amazing views of the entire Strip.

I'm going to suggest Aureole, with a table in Swan Court.

Go for the dégustation with paired wines, or the parallel tasting menu, again, with paired wines.

Do not even consider eating lunch, and allow 2 - 3 hours to enjoy the meal.

The use of a limousine service is advisable for New Year's Eve as the driver will simply park in the garage and pick you up from the line when you are ready.

Always wary of traffic on NYE, I use the restroom just before getting into the car; on one occasion I spotted a female leg, with high heel, being enthusiastically 'waved' over the top of one of the gentleman's lavatory stalls; New Year arrives with a bang in Las Vegas. ):
