Morning all,

Earlier this year I secured my first BA reward flight for April 2015 flying SFO-LHR in First and ever since I've been looking to try and change it to the LAX flight so I could fly on one of their A380s, this has seemed an impossible task as there never seems to be any availability for a First reward on the 380.

Imagine my surprise when I checked this morning to find out my BA286 flight will be operated by an A380 from April and the seat map has now changed to show the flight being operated by an A380 y)

I can't wait :D

Doesn't the BA scheme only allow a one cabin upgrade, so to get into F on miles upgrade you have to start in J? Happy to stand corrected if different.

Now that's got me thinking about what to do with my Amex points. Need to do more research!

Thats very lucky!

We had booked to go to SFO this Nov, but changed the flights to go to LAX then connect to SFO (with a separate ticket to LAS before up to SFO). It's very handy that F class tickets are at least semi-flex.

The BA285/6 to/from San Francisco will be an A380 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Meaning that it is still a 747 on Tuesdays and Wednesday.

Fantastic - I'm still to set foot on an A380...

For BA rewards, you can only use Avios to upgrade to the next highest cabin from a qualifying fare - I.E., you'd need a club world booking to be able to upgrade to Frirst.

I personally find the best options are to buy a WT plus ticket and upgrade to CW with Avios or straight avios bookings into F.

Thanks all,

I'm well pleased with the result as I've been wanting a go on a 380 for years now.

I'll be sure to have fun wherever I end up y)
