As I understood it Servisair were having a refurb.
No 1 Lounge has been open for a while and I have used it twice and much prefer it to the Servisair. I'm going up next week so I'll check but I think both are open.

The old Servisair lounges are being slowly phased out and replaced with the Aspire brand, which are generally much nicer.

Yes the new Aspire Lounge at EDI isn't bad at all - a vast improvement on its predecessor.

It also has the advantage of being very close to the LR gate, which No.1 isn't.

Yes, VS LR is no longer using the Aspire lounge in EDI, but has switched to the No.1 lounge (previously the BA lounge).

- The Aspire lounge is the half-completed renovation of the Servisair lounge, and apart from being rather gray in colour, was looking to be pretty good.. with good seating, booths with individual TVs, bacon rolls, etc.

- The BA lounge is now where the BMI lounge was, and is quite nice, with lots of seating; although as mentioned above, the gates for the BA and VS heathrow services should probably now be swapped!

Anyway, the No. 1 lounge is interesting. It's quite different than how BA had it, although retains the large white walls/high ceiling affair, that makes it a bit echo'y and sort of unfinished looking. They could do with some more soft furnishings/pictures!

+ very quiet, variety of seating, hot food menu, cheery staff

- poor soft drinks selection, alcoholic drinks are behind a tended bar (no self serve), lack of power points, poor cold food options (a few salad pickings, a few cookies, and apples), temperature too high (is the central heating on?), desk staff didn't know how to process a VS gold card and had to get supervisor, no toilets or wash hand basin.

So, mixed feelings.
Few pics below... the cottage pie was fine... the red wine was ghastly.

Update:

In the EDI No.1 lounge at the moment.
Chatting with the staff member on duty.. she informed me that the Virgin gold card will permit me entry regardless of airline I am flying with!!

I looked surprised, but she insisted.. "Yes, even if you're flying with easy jet, just show your gold card."

EDI lounge update.

No.1 : novelty starting to wear. The soft drinks machine has bust, meaning ordering at the bar, like for alcoholic drinks. Food deteriorating - the self-service area today is mainly crumbs and dirty plates.
So Ive wandered back over to the Aspire lounge (access with Priority Pass card)

Aspire: the back 'half' has opened, meaning much more seating. There is a small drinks/biscuits station in the back.
Front area much the same, except wine and spirits are now behind the bar, and have to be poured by staff, if you can find one. Ugh. Downgrade.
Food options of soup/bread, sandwiches, warm pastries and usual fruit and biscuits.
