The seat map for our outbound flight to NRT opened this morning. I have opted for seats 4 & 5K, but noticed the plane is currently at A340-300, not the 600 as I thought. A search here suggested that sometimes they put the 300 up if VS IT isn't sure of the aircraft. Are these seats still good? I had a look at the seat map on a few other websites and they look fine. I'll of course keep an eye on my booking in case they change anything! Another thought was that perhaps the NRT route is now really quiet so they're opting for the smaller aircraft.

Thanks, Blacky :) I figured that might be the case but had a moment of mild consternation when I noticed it was a different aircraft!

Now, does anyone know how you book extra legroom seats on VS for Y PAX if the flight was booked through Expedia?

Edit: Seems like it can only be done at check in. Rats.

Could you not contact Expedia? In terms of the aircraft I know that NRT has gone to A340-300 in the quieter periods for quite a while now so thats a pretty likely bet.

research is showing me that our flight in UC from LHR to CPT in January will be on A340 300 so your experience in 4 & 5K spacedog will be of interest. I have heard about the advantages of facing the wall but what about the smaller cabin further back, 14, 15 ? is that a poor UC experience on an overnight flight I wonder ? ?|

FLYERZ, I wondered if that might be the case. it would make sense as I'm assuming December isn't a busy time and they're winding down the route anyway.

Snora, I'll do a TR and weigh in on how the seats suited us. I like that they're a little further away from the bar as we would like a bit of sleep! Apparently the cabin at the back you mentioned is technically the "snooze zone" on the 300, but it's also a high traffic area for CC, so I'd prefer to be further forward, personally.

These are good seats in both 340-300 & 600 variants

Had 4 &5 K on the 300 to YVR last week and 5 & 6 on the way back on 600

Very few bad seats but avoid th bar and bathroom areas on night flights

we had those exact same seats on our last flight to NRT on VS- outward on rainbow lady and inbound on african queen. perfect seats i reckon. about equal distance from the bar and the loo.
