Is this official, have only found one source on Twitter. If so, could this impact on press flight and first passenger flight?

G-VNEW did a 1.5 hr (test) flight yesterday - up to fl.390 down the west coast and back to Everett.

It looks like looking at flightradar24, V-NEW is currently doing a test flight over Washington state as VIR27.

What was the last plane that was delivered to the fleet prior to VNEW? I am thinking about the "mainline" fleet so not VALR.

Having just flown on Norwegian's 787 I have to say that Boeing have designed the most uncomfortable economy section ever. This is the airlines fault for squeezing 9 seats across when Boeing only expected people to use 8.

The seats are SO narrow and the armrests are even more ridiculous. You can't move a muscle whilst sleeping without waking up the person next to you and everyone in economy was so unhappy with the lack of width.

Given people are generally getting larger I can only imagine what will happen on some flights and can't believe airlines think this will be an improvement. Hope the cabin crew are ready for the complaints!

The decision by airlines to install 9 abreast on the 787's is nothing to do with Boeing. Same as those doing 3-4-3 on 777's.

I don't think it'll be many years before we see 11 abreast in an A380. It's already been reviewed for feasibility.

BA are getting grief on flyertalk for installing more seats in to its short haul airbus fleet.

The facts are that most Y passengers led by are price first , everything else second. Margins for carriers are low and therefore there is no incentive to increase space.

Have a look at the AA example from a few years back, they took a row out on their long haul fleet giving much more room. However bookings weren't positively affected, the market wouldn't accept higher fares and it was a financial disaster.

Agreed its the airlines fault but I really don't think they have thought it through properly. BA were apparently shocked after sending in researchers to interview economy passengers in one of their new 787s. 787 might work for a 5/6 hour flight but anything longer I'll actively avoid it.

I'm thin and was sat next to an equally thin lady but we spent most of the flight being far more comfortable with each other than we'd like (practically sleeping on each other)

You can't even fit one arm on the armrest never mind share it with anyone and I can't wait to see what happens with any even mildly overweight person trying to fit in those chairs!!

Exactly. People demand more space, but won't accept higher fares to pay for it.

The bottom line is if you want more space, most airlines will be happy to give it to you in the form of extra legroom seats, exit rows or a premium cabin - but they come at a price.

If, however, you just want the cheapest fare you can't expect to have lots of space.

PAE is Paine Field which is home to Boeing's Everett factory and also the customer delivery centre. Sounds very much like G-VNEW...
