A lot of love for New Zealand in this thread, I have never fancied it, whenever I watch the All Blacks at home it seems to be cold and wet!
My top 10 places visited are.
Monument Valley (would return)
Maldives
Napa Valley (would live there)
Barbados (would live there)
Malaysia
Las Vegas (probably been 20 times)
Greyhound NY to LA
Isle of Wight (first school/on my own holiday)
Mount Tiede
Switzerland

Places visited that did not impress

New York (like London but dirtier)
Dubai
Egypt
India (worst holiday ever)
Indonesia
Washington DC
San Fransico (rained for 3 days)

Places I would love to go

Northern Lights (read an awesome trip report on flyertalk) in Alaska
New England in fall
Drive coast to coast, Australia
Italian lakes
Japan
Chile, hotel next to a glacier
India to give it a second chance
Outdoor Super Bowl in Hot Climate

I've just remembered a couple of places that I have been, but did not enjoy, and would not want to go again... Malta and Corfu. They really weren't my sort of places. There is such a thing as being too laid-back.

Although I enjoyed my times in Prague, having been a few times now (and having my phone taken from my bag in front of me) I think I'm done with it, too. Not a problem though as there are so many other places that I would love to visit in the world!

No one has mentioned Marrakesh as being awesome in their lists, from what I can see. Is it? I have read lots of rave reviews but never been myself (but booked to go next year for a few days).

[quote="Bretty"]Vancouver was awesome for me, both of us love the place

we visit Van most years, can't get too much of it. 14 trips so far . Having been to LA, San Fran,NYC, Boston, Miami, Savannah, Charleston, Toronto, Montreal, It is pretty much up there as the single most beautiful city. A fab location sitting on the coast with that mountain backdrop. 90 mins from the snow of Whistler and a ferry ride from the Island. We use YVR as a hub sometimes, direct flights from MAN - YVR, catching a few days in our favourite city then flying from Bellingham (USA) down the west coast to places like SFO , LAX and LAS. cheap flights galore. Doing that very thing in Sept 15 visiting Palm Springs and returning to Zion National Park, Monument Valley, Lake Powell and Grand Canyon, flying LAX to YYZ for a few days in NOTL, then home from YYZ- MAN direct. :D
Like others our big plans are to do NZ with a visit to the Cooke Islands in there somewhere. maybe 2016..... :?

Maldives, Australia and Barbados have to be my favourites. Couldn't exclude Barbados as my 24th trip is looming in 3 weeks!

Sydney has it all (weather, sea and city) and the east coast/barrier reef were equally good. The Maldives, well the two islands I have been to, were both absolutely out of this world but very different.

I also like going to the Greek islands for the simplicity. Oh and Lake Como was beautiful.....the list could go on!

Wishlist: Grenada , NY/Boston/San Fran/maybe even Las Vegas!, Mauritius, NZ, Thailand and Canada

I am currently in Mallorca. And I have to say it's blown me away. Nothing like what I expected.

The weather this week has been amazing - never below 28°C.

The scenery is breathtaking, and Palma town itself is just a great city. Walking around its cool tree lined streets, stopping at a cafe for an incredibly inexpensive Estrella while soaking up the chatter from everyone around me, then preceding to another cafe, this time surrounded by flower sellers... while earlier in the day wandering around a mountain village... It's been amazing.

And not a Club 18-30 holidaymaker in sight.

I absolutely fell in love with Miami when I was there am heading back again next year!!

Big American adventure next year ticking off a whistle stop tour of places I have dreamed bout since being a kid, LA, SFO, a transcon Amtrak trip, Washington and New York!!

Loved Orlando for the fun that was had with the people I was with but to be honest the place itself was too touristy in terms of the bucket and spade brigade!

Closer to home I adore Barcelona, Berlin and Bordeaux immensely!! Hamburg was pretty cool too!!

Paris is purely functional for me as a hub for TGV, am sick of the sight of the place otherwise!! Likewise I have never understood people's fasination with Dublin!! Was back recently for a bit of a tour if Ireland and it confirmed what I had always said in every other trip there!!!

Really want to visit Zurich and Moscow in the not too distant future as well as exploring what I didn't see of Berlin! Longer Haul I have to add another hat into the New Zealand ring and Austrailia too!! Far East has never really appealed to me!!

Bretty sorry for my ignorance but I can't remember. it is part of a beautiful carving on exhibit at the amazing Museum of Anthropology at UBC in Vancouver.

A big shout out for this itinerary, sadly gone from VS now:

Fly to Vancouver, few days
Bus to Whistler mountain day trip. Do the gondola between the peaks.
Drive to Salmon arm, towards rockies, stay overnight.
Drive through rockies,to Lake Louise, stay in Fairmont on the lake.
Drive to Banff, stay a few days, do the icefields on drive (south to north chunk of rockies), and back. Top of Sulphur mountain.
Calgary, drop off car, fly to Victoria.
Few days in Victoria. Whale watch. Take a water taxi.
Back via the wale watching boat from Butchart Gardens back to Vancouver.
Back. Would be BA now.
