Hi all,

I'm looking to get a flight from LAX to NYC in November and fancy using some miles to get a VX ticket. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is there generally good availability on reward fares?

Thanks!

I redeemed my miles for a VX flight this April for a flight between Chicago and San Francisco. I had to go on these specific dates and was able to redeem my points quite easily. However I had to go First Class (not complaining about that) as there was no main cabin left. Thought process was quite easy and straightforward but heard nightmare stories from others with other partners. Hope this helps

Thanks. I'm wondering whether it would be better to try DL for a redemption, as you can get business/first for 45,000 return which is considerably less than VX. But then I am not sure what the product is like!

No problem. VX first class produce is good by American standards I rather enjoyed the experience it beats most other domestic operators. In saying that I'm pretty sure delta offers business elite (I.e. Lie flat) seats on select transcon flights from JFK so it's worth a look :)

Realised I needed to fly in and out of EWR (I'll be staying in Jersey City) so ended up going with VX over Delta - so after 15 minutes on the phone I got a Main Cabin select (flown that before and was impressed) for 50k miles and $11 so that said me about £400 which isn't too bad. The Delta business was 45k so I'm not too fussed about an extra 5k miles knowing VX.
