Some of the crew were having 787 training yesterday at LHR.
I've been told even I would impressed by the interior.

I flew back to JFK yesterday and spent the majority of the time digging for info. Quite a number of the crew had been on 787 training and were as excited as I was to get onboard Birthday Girl.

Premium Economy - according to crew - people are going to love the new seat, wander wall and other enhancements they've made, it is apparently a truly spacious cabin with a brand new head rest that provides superior support for sleepy heads.

Economy - again, they've never seen a more spacious cabin - a 360 upgrade on any existing economy cabin.

Crew Rest - everyone's dream apparently.

Upper Class - this is the cabin being kept most under wraps but managed to get the gist of what we can expect. Again - spacious was key as was comfort and to coin one person's phrase - it was created using the UC Suite 1 as a basis of start and then combining the elements that do work from the Dream Suites. Far more spacious and comfortable. Fully automated so no need to 'click' as with the Dream Suites.. and the ottoman has undergone a complete overhaul - it really does sound amazing.

The bar - bigger, more spacious and with higher capacity for sitting and mingling.

Crew can't wait to fly the new aircraft, indeed there were some crew who hadn't trained yet and were a bit miffed at not doing so..

Just days to go before a number os us on this forum will be able to flood the site with trip reviews! I for one am beyond excited!

EDIT - Apparently filming has already taken place in Upper, and so we should expect video very soon.

Lets hope we're not disappointed! Have to say that hearing your description getinjonothan I starting to gloss over and forget about all the problems the 787 in general has had over the past year.

I'm an optimist. The problems are such I see as teething problems. There has been no lack of confidence in the aircraft as a result of said problems. This is a 787-9, Boeing will have learnt from their mistakes. There is nothing online to suggest the 787-9 has any issues whatsoever.

It's fair to say that the 787 has had a few technical issues, especially with the new Lithium batteries, but it has been subject to far more media scrutiny than anything Boeing have made before and we know how the media love to focus on the negatives.

I'm really looking forward to getting on one next year at some point.

There has been no significant issues whatsoever.
Very good for a new aircraft.
The Upper Class is very similar to the 340 in layout, but is far more spacious and brighter. The cabin lights are all led and are work very well with the sculptured ceiling. The UC seats are an improved version from the 340. The inflight entertainment is excellent. Seat 11K is very close to the bar however, the only negative thing I can say really. I'd still wouldn't complain mind.

Would you recommend a seat a bit further in the cabin then ?

I would have thought for those seeking privacy any A seat would be preferable over the Gs and Ks as they're opposite a wall rather than another seat

Just looking at this seat map - do UC customers share the same bathrooms as PE customers?

There are four toilets there. I'm guessing the front two are for J and the back 2 for W probably separated by a curtain as on the 330 and yes the bar is angled like the 330s

The 787 UC is the same as the ANZ refreshed seat. Nothing to get excited about, but it is good news that they recognise what a failure the UCDS was/is.
