The only difference booking this way is that you don't receive the usual e-ticket from VS (even though it's VS that ticket the whole itinerary).

Whilst Expeida do show the 932 ticket number, you don't get an e-ticket from VS.

Once you get both PNR's you can see all the flights on both the VS and BA manage booking pages.

Just tried this little trick, and it gives me a price of 1259 Upper Class, VS 45/46 on the 9/13th Jan....

VS website quotes 2635 for the same flights and dates!!!!

Almost 1400 quid saving? Yes please! The positioning flight out to DUB is no problem at all for me....Thank you v-flyer!!!! :D

Almost 2000 quid saving to LAX, this is too good to believe :0

I'm a little confused though, as there appear to be no direct flight from DUB to LAX anyway, so why are they offering the cheaper fares via LON?

LHR-JFK can be had for about £1,500 in a decent sale so I wouldn't jump at the DUB option there as you'll spend £200 or so on flights to Ireland and a hotel... others sound good.

Is it???!!!!!! There IS a god! Although I've yet to find a good fare ex-Cork for my proposed trips with VS although I have with BA.

Was looking at that yesterday.

I wonder if there is anyway you can force the DUB - LHR flight to be in the afternoon, thus giving you an overnight in London (Gatwick) before the transatlantic portion.

This would give you plenty of time to do the LHR to LGW transfer with plenty of slack in the itinerary incase of issues ?|

Not seen anything but Carribean and Orlando flights for 1500 quid for a few years now. I do remember way back when 1500 for west coast happened, but not for quite a while. Getting peoples hopes up :) Not seen LAS much less than 2K for last few years.

The downside of that price is that you will be flying into LHR from Cork as only Ryanair flies to LGW - and that only once a day.

If you book on Expedia, input the day before you want to do the MCO leg and an evening departure time.

If you take the Cork option you would have to fly from Cork the night before as the first flight from Cork isn't scheduled to get into LHR until nearly 9am (though it's often early) and that wouldn't give you enough time to get to LGW

I was looking on Skyscanner earlier and one of the options offered was mixed fare, ie. Aer Lingus economy ORK-LGW then VS UC onward to MCO. Advantage is that you have no airport switching between LHR & LGW, disadvantage no BA Club Europe meaning no Avios or tier points.

Erm, James. Aer Lingus don't fly ORK-LGW so Skyscanner is wrong. v(

Smid wrote:Interesting that its not business class on connection from Cork.

Does that mean that Honey Lamb will be getting a few more people to meet up at the pub the night before flights for a bit?

Aer Lingus is a one class airline. The guy in DXB who was trying to re-route me via London after I missed my connection back to Dublin, nearly had a seizure that he couldn't get me a business seat either to Dublin or Cork :0

As for meeting up in the pub the night before flights, apart from the fact that I live 30 miles west of the city, you'd have to leave on the night before if you're connecting to LGW

When did that change? I clearly remember flying business from Cork to Heathrow around 2000 and onto Stuttgart (lived in Cork for 6 months).

Some years ago. It re-branded itself along the lines of a low-cost airline while retaining some of the features of a legacy airline. Food and drink is buy-on-board, baggage fees apply for the basic fares, as does seat selection, but does have a PLUS fare which gives a free bag and seat selection. It hasn't gone for the money-grabbing charges that Ryanair has.

There is a Business class on the US flights and all meals are complimentary on those routes and I understand that on some selected routes to Europe there is still a small business class

I've been having a look at these fares with some interest as there are some great deals to be had. VS Upper to MIA for £1200 and £1400 to SFO. First with BA to SFO can be picked up for £2500.

One thing to think about is that if you're initial flight from DUB to LHR is on Aer Lingus metal you will be booked in to economy. This means you only have 1 bag as your allowance. If you book on to a BA flight, you are booked into business and you will have the higher baggage allowance associated with this.

The alternative is to leave your bags in the left luggage place in LHR rather than schlep them to and from Dublin

When were these flights coming up at 1200 for Miami? Sounds tempting, Key West is on the list...

I was looking last two weeks of April for us but the prices seem to carry in to May. West coast is also coming in at the same prices for August. BA First is £2000 to SFO some dates in August! For some reason LAX is over £4000 for the same dates...

I have no use for this, however others may... SFO in First Class BA, on the A380, can be picked up for £1756 late May :0 :0

Heck I might just book that for the sake of it, experience First, the A380 and SFO all for the first time. :D
