Recommendations for Miami airport hotel

OH and I will be transitting through MIA next Feb and want to stay close to the airport the night before our flight down to MBJ. There appear to be several hotels on or close to the airport, do any of you experts have any recommendations of which to go for (or conversely, which to avoid )?

I stayed at the grandly titled Miami International Airport Hotel a couple of years ago. We chose a "superior" room that allegedly had more room as I had read that the basic ones were very small. I dread to think how small the basic rooms were as our room was small, extremely spartan and noisy. However, I believe there has been a major refit since - not that that would improve room size I guess !

We did have a very nice breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

I would recommend the Hilton Miami Airport - just a short complimentary shuttle ride away from the terminal and some rooms have great airport views, if that is your thing too

Also stayed at the Hilton, mainly for the points, but it is convenient, friendly staff with a good free shuttle service.
Although I have been a few times over the years I cannot remember too much about the restaurant, bar etc but it must have been ok or I wouldn't have gone back!
Once given an upgrade to a suite with views of the runway, found it hard to drag myself away from the window to watch the Weather Channel on TV!

The airport is very close and very easy to get to from Miami beach. (Just don't get lost trying to fill up with petrol like I did)
From 41st street on Miami beach it's a straight line, just be aware there can be traffic!
