Hi all. Looking to book a hotel for 20th May next year for our 2 week holiday to Orlando. Normally stay at the Hilton which is fantastic location but we were very disappointed in the hotel last time and very costly now.

Sofitel at the other terminal (connected by train every 2-3 mins) is very very good for park and stay for 2, imagine they have bigger rooms based on volume of people there.

We paid ~ 140 for 2 weeks parking, one night stay and thanks to amex platinum's gold membership of the chain - we had lounge access and an upgrade to a very nice room.

Highly, Highly reccomended.

There is also a Premier inn at the north terminal

You can't beat the Premier Inn.

It's North Terminal but on property, a short 2 minute walk from the monorial that connects you to the South Terminal.

They offer a 1 night stay with 15 nights parking for c. £110. The parking is within the LGW Valet (short stay).

We do the Hilton. We have two rooms, second, being children (teenagers) is half the price of the first. They have a family policy, check it out on their website.

I have status so get a free upgrade and breakfast. We flew out in July to Antigua, paid £110 for 2 rooms (upgraded to executives). You can't beat a bit of free vino the night before!

Has to be the premier inn- its next to the Sofitel, offers great rates and the rates including parking are hard to beat. If flying from the South Terminal its a short ride on the Tram which is outside the hotel. Bar rates are decent and the restaurant is good value!

I would always use the Hilton if flying from Heathrow too - but the Gatwick one is not quite the same IMO...

Im also flying from Gatwick in a few months - I have booked the BLOC hotel - looks fun and the price is decent. There is no where in the hotel to eat - so it will be in the terminal (they offer a pretty decent voucher book for the places to eat there pre and post security). I think if I was a teenager I would love it too with all its gizmos..! Price is great too - very competitive and has to be the closest to check in too...

Keep us posted on where you book!

I have stayed at the Hilton the last two years and booked it again for next year.
I wasn't impressed with the restaurant last year, but this year we upgraded to executive to get use of the lounge with food and drink in the evening. Internet access too so you can check in on line.
While Virgin are still at the South terminal I'll stick with the Hilton.

It can also be a bargain in Hilton points...

Am I the only one envisioning waking up in the middle of the night with a smash?

Another vote for the hilton, it may not be quite as smart as the Sofitel, but if you watch out, you can get good deals, the valet parking drop off is right outside, I get VS miles on the stay, and my cherubs insist on dinner at the south terminal Giraffe as our pre-holiday ritual. So the best overall package for us, we use it several times a year.

We have just booked our 3rd stay at the Premier Inn North Terminal which we can't fault ... BBEM £120 for both of us. Booked NCP Long Stay Car Park which is 5 min by bus from the Terminal ... £125 for 16 days. Yes, can book hotel/car parking cheaper through Premier Inn, but won't have anybody driving our car ... too many horror stories!

I have only flown from LGW once in recent years and we stayed in the Hampton by Hilton Hotel that is attached to the North terminal. It had just opened, so all brand spanking new. We arrived, ate, slept and flew out first thing. It was clean and comfortable and I got a good rate from what I remember with parking included.

I am flying from LGW again in February (going to Morroco) and will be staying at the Sofitel this time, before and after the flights. They do decent Park and Stay deals also (and have a 40% discount offer currently). Sofitel are great for upgrades if you have the Platinum Loyalty card. The Asian Restaurant in the hotel is quite good (for an airport restaurant).
