Hello All,

We have booked UC rtn from Dub - Man - Las with a 5 hour transit otbound at Man. The saving was enormous so well worth the inconvenience of the one way trip we need to make to Dub.

The itinerary from Expedia shows different PNR's for each sector with the first sector (Dub - Man) operated by Aer Lingus. All sectors appear on the VS website, although the Dub - Man sector is greyed out and cannot be accessed. We have a 5 hour transit time at Man before continuing on VS85 to Las. Aer Lingus charge £25 per checked bag with a max weight of 20kilos and excess charges apply thereafter.

Here's the question that I hope you can advise on. We don't need our suitcases in Dub at all. Is there anything to stop us meeting up with our family at Terminal 2 in Man on the outbound leg, collecting our cases from them and then checking them in with VS at Man? Doing that would save us £100 and be much more convenient than humping them out to Dub.
I can't see any problem, but Mrs QH is worried that as we will have already begun our journey and completed our Dub - Man sector it will create issues.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm also booked on an ex-DUB journey next year and am assured by many that the luggage issue won't be problem. so in short, the answer is no, nothing to stop you doing as planned.

Absolutely nothing to stop you doing that at all.

The alternative to using your family would be to use left luggage but I guess your family would be cheaper lol

It's probably worth a read of the post that ColOrd started a few days ago "Thank you V-Flyer" for future bookings. That post covers some hints on using Expedia to book these EX-EU offers.

By choosing your first leg DUB(AMS,BRU etc) to London, Manchester or wherever to be weeks or even months before your second leg you can avoid baggage worries and stress of "will my first leg be on time, don't want to miss my long haul connection" etcetera.

Plus you can then organise your trip to DUB(AMS,BRU etc) as an extra holiday or weekend away before your main trip. If you're really clever you can then save your final leg to be several weeks or months after your return long haul flight and do another city trip with that (or link it later to another long haul trip saving the cost of the positioning ticket on your second trip).
