We are on the 11.40 flight that day. I have to say driving in Flrorida is part of he holiday for me! I always hire a full size SUV (Chevy Tahoe the preferred choice)!!!
Definitely hire a car for travelling to shops, Disney, Universal, Nasa, Beaches and Restaurants etc. Driving in Florida is easy. The cars are big, the roads are massive as are the parking spaces. My tip for the interstate (Motorway) would be to try and stay in one of the middle lanes if you are unsure when you exit will appear. Don't forget that in Florida when on the interstate you can overtake on either side so make sure you look on both mirrors before you make your move. Its easy so just enjoy it. PS Fuel is also very good value!!!!

I have requested a Grand Cherokee or similar. This year I got a Ford which was OK. I have a Grand Cherokee at home and wanted to test out a new one, but I must say I often upgrade and the new Tahoe looks lovely. I could be tempted if there is one and they offer me a good deal on the upgrade. Which they usually do. Last year I got an Infinity, black with cream leather.

The new shape Tahoe is awesome. Virgin Car hire for the Tahoe is excellent value .Had one for a month when we were out there in the summer. Pearlescent white! Very 90's!
Maybe I'll see you in the virgin lounge I've heard so much about Mash tattie!

I didn't know you could arrange to collect your hire car from a Disney Car centre, I'd never heard of that before, and it sounds really good. Definitely hire a car. I did a bit of driving when I was in Florida in September and I found it very easy to drive (especially once I got the hang of the Lincoln Navigator that we got a very steep discount to upgrade to when we got to the Avis desk). Driving LHD vehicles is so much easier in the US as they're all automatic and the roads are very wide. I wouldn't blame you for picking a car up at Disney as the roads going out of MCO can be confusing for those unfamiliar with the roads and the signs.
As well as the ease of driving, even if you're staying at Disney it allows you to go out and explore if you intend to venture outside on some days.

It's good advice staying in the middle as the Interstates have a tendency to change from 4 lanes to 3 lanes and before you know it, you're in a lane that's going off the Interstate with little time to react.
We're flying economy AJC. Unfortunately does not give the benefit of the Lounge!

You are not missing much at MCO. The Delta lounge is usually overcrowded and the food is rubbish.
This year we flew PE.
On the outbound we went into No1 lounge at Gatwick which was very relaxing.
Coming back at MCO we found a seating area away from the crowds and the cost of drink and snacks was less than the cost of paying for a lounge.
