I'm flying out on a Delta metal to NYC (and onward to Nashville) in a few weeks time via LHR T3 and (thanks to your help!) am booked into DTCI. I'll be making a TR about my battle to get this booked and everything onward!

However i wanted to look at some other options too. A friend has agreed to drive me (i'm paying £10 for the petrol), but i have some RTV's (rail travel vouchers) which will reduce the cost of Heathrow Connect to 18 pence for a single ticket from Paddington.

Assuming i did that, how much would it be for a taxi (or some vehicle) to take me from T3 around to DTCI? Is there a company best to use for this sort of thing?

Just give your friend the tenner!

Will be far easier to deal with in telling VS the make, registration etc of the car in advance - you are supposed to give that info 30+ minutes before your arrival slot,

Has anyone tried cycling (or just walking) up the DTCI ramp!?

Im unlikely to change my plans (this way is easier than dragging myself to Paddington anyway), but the "can you do better?" mentality of mine always pushes me to keep checking for alternatives even after i've settled on a decision.

That and my friend is intrigued by the idea of DTCI and wants to see for himself - he told me in his mind he thinks its like a McDonalds drive thru where they take your luggage you drive on and collect your boarding pass from another "window". To be honest i can understand why he thinks that too!

I'll likely use the RTV's from LHR rather than to. But has anybody been able to secure transport to LHR for less than 18p yet?

Unless you get the cycle dropped off at the terminal or use the train, you currently can't cycle to T1, 2 and 3. :P

I would just pay your friend the £10 and use DTCI. It really is a nice touch. Goes by in a flash but nice touch.
Will really miss it when we take BA next time.

At LHR right now. The lift to the UC wing is broken, and when the agent mentioned it, I suggested (jokingly) that I walk up the DTCI ramp.

He said, "you wouldn't be the first who's tried that, sir."

:0 :0 :0

Actually I'm now seriously tempted by the tandem idea...
